Madonna Dedicates Song ("Imagine")to Russian Hostage Crisis

Pop star Madonna drew massive applause from a sold-out crowd in Paris when she dedicated her version of John Lennon’s peace ode Imagine to the Russian hostage crisis.

Addressing the audience midway through her show last night, Madonna spoke briefly about the tragedy at a Russian school that left at least 350 dead, including pupils, teachers and mothers.

As video images of war and children were broadcast behind her on giant screens, the pop diva urged her fans at Paris’ Bercy stadium to think about what happened in Russia and to think about Lennon’s lyrics.

If all men were brothers...

Would you let one marry your sister?

John Lenin was a communist stooge.

He betrayed his countries; both his native and adopted land.

Personally, I would rather have my eardrums pierced with a steel-pointed spear, than have them suffer through his Utopian treacle.

All I have is the IFC and Bravo here in Seattle.

I DO have the DVD with a GREAT documentary featuring all the protagonists (including Albert Brooks and Peter Boyle!). I'll think I'll go put it on now that the convention is over.

"I really hate that song."

I'm with you...actually it's quite fitting they've turned most of the Beatles songs into MUZAK....as with most things the boomers like, they're completely over-rated.

And that song is why I can "imagine" a world without John Lennon.

Imagine there's no Liberals.
It's easy if you try.
No Kennedys, no Kerrys.
No Dascholes, no Feinsweins.
Imagine all the taxpayers
Living their lives free.
Oo oo, you may say I'm a dreamer....

OR ....

Slutty Madonna,
Gigolos at your feet
Wonder how you manage
To make ends meet?

Imagine there's no Mecca...

...And no Medina too...

It's a start.

For some strange reason, last week I had a dream about John Lennon. I was watching him draw some woeful little drawings of naked women, similar to the stuff from 'In His Own Write,' and for some reason I just went off on him about women's rights and how he, being John Lennon and kinda hip, really should be more aware of women's capabilities. Strange.

That song is a vile piece of crap. Goes for the singer as well.

"I hate that song --- but how low can Madonna go to try to capitalize on the terror those kids faced?"

Madonna singing about imagining that there's no religion or no heaven to parents burying their children is about as low as it gets. The only thing worse would be if Madonna was wearing her pointy plastic teats while singing to them.

It's the Communist Manifesto with a beat. I came out of the womb hating that song--quite an accomplishment, since the song was released when I was a couple years old. . . .

Imagine has a beat? Who knew? Now Rage Against the Machine, that's the Communist Manifesto with a beat.

Typical Hollywood solution to a crisis.

If my kid was in that school, the only thing I could imagine would be REVENGE!

Are you sure she didn't? I'm sure she stroked herself and strutted mostly naked while singing that song --- for her it's just about money.
