SEN. JOHN KERRY TO CROWD AS HE HELD UP GUN: I thank you for the gift, but I can't take it to the debate with me." (Darlene Superville, "Kerry Bolstered by Clinton Advice," Associated Press, 09/07/04)

Excellent tagline!
Now I know why you're my hero. :>)
Right, but try joking about "bombs" at the airport and see how funny that is.
The SS takes ALL threats seriously, a joke or not. You or I couldn't joke like this or we'd be getting an interview.
Anything said could be a signal.
It's just that very few have the means of saying something that gets national and worldwide exposure
Cool. My SASS (Single Action Shooting Society) alias is 'Dead Eye Davis'.
Come on! They will not eat crow. They will claim that Kerry was smeared and robbed by the Swiftboat/Bush attack machine, and really won.
thanks for the ping. Sheesh. In truth, however, the vision of Kerry going up against someone like Bush is just funny! OMG, can you see him even challenging him to a windsurfing contest? LMAO! Kerry is a loser.
Yeah ~ let's have TehRAYzuh, now! :):)
Well, what *did* he mean by it, then?
Probably the same thing he would have meant if someone had given him a pair of boxing gloves or an athletic cup. It was a joke. And, quite frankly, not that bad. It's the same with Bush's off-the-cuff "dictatorship" remark I mentioned in a previous post.
There are so many serious and substantive issues to discuss and debate. I don't think we have to try to create them out of silly little comments.
"Probably the same thing he would have meant if someone had given him a pair of boxing gloves or an athletic cup. It was a joke."
Yes, on the surface it was a joke. But the underlying subconscious implication (especially in the case of 'off-the-cuff' remarks) is that even for just a second, he thought about it for real.
And of course if a Republican had said it, the Dems and their allies in the Media would have been all over it as a physical threat to sKerry.
Personally and in November.
Well, my favorite weapon to shoot is our S&W .357 MAg with a 6 inch barrell. I can hit just about anything with it.
"You talkin' to Me?"
"You talkin' to Me?"
"HMMM? You talkin' to Me?"
I think it may have been a reaction to Zell Miller's speech and encounter with Chris Matthews. He had to counter the spitball remark with a gun, and the dueling remark with Matthews.
Whatever it takes, this man must never become president. And it was an entirely inappropriate remark, not a silly little comment. Not the same as Bush's dictator remark, this was said with a gun in his hands. The double standard should stop, but it won't.
They should start a file on him.
You are joking of course?
The Dems are beginning to realize they have a loose cannon on their hands.

The only way Kerry could win a debate with Bush would to be armed!
Jokes about using guns on presidents are not appropriate - from anyone really, but especially from a man who is trying to establish his presidential credentials. I would think that adults could discern the problem.
He could put it in his own mouth and pull the trigger. That would get rid of a few unwanted brain cells.
