Falls Church, Va. (AP) - Christian converts from Muslim backgrounds gathered in the Washington area to share their unique challenges and fears.
The Washington Times reports that the weekend conference - sponsored in part by the Baptist General Association of Virginia - was conducted under tight security, with participants using assumed names to guard against Muslim retaliation.
The newspaper reports that many participants said they face ostracism and even death threats for converting from Islam to Christianity.
Some said they're afraid to tell their families that they've become Christians.
You have no idea what you speak of.
I have met many former Muslims.
I have been honoered to be a children's pastor in a church that happens to have many of these families. In my case, most of the families are from Nigeria.
I saw real heart changes in these people. They love Jesus.

You're not just distrusting; you're saying that a Muslim cannot really become a Christian. That's just silly, and thousands have already done just that.
I hesitate to ask what you think of Christians who convert to Islam.

The Chinese Christians, Sudanese, and converts from Islam....know what following Christ all the way really can and does mean to and for many believers...
That is why the USA is such a blessing to the world....we are the last sanctuary....but even we are starting to fade in that dept...

I suppose in terms of the WOT in a sense we are. But what I meant is that no one has said to me, "Zack Nguyen, I know you're a Christian and I'm going to kill you." No one threatened me after I was saved seven years ago. These people probably deal with direct threats all the time.
Become a secular atheist.
I know several former muslims who converted. You would be absoultey shocked at how, not just muslims but americans look at them as if they are traitors.
Some so called secular (i.e. athiests) liberals treat them like garbage and traitors and mock them for being brainwashed by christians.
These former muslims aren't dumb, if they gave there names out or if they even leaked out, the media would blast it out so that they would be retaliated against in there own communities.
I'm assuming your not mixing up all arabs and muslims, since several members of congress from both the house and senate have arabic backgrounds but are christians.
The threat is more covert but it is growing. The people who hate Bush so much hate him because he is openly Christian. Luckily in the US we are a majority but make no mistake about it, we are threatened.
