Sorry Chrissy, but in the home(s) of John Kerry Heinz there is not likely to be one can of tuna, much less instructions for opening it.
Heck, the guy on Hannity last night said it was an attack to question Kerry's senate record.
Did you hear Fineman say that Edwards was "howling in a void" and no one was listening? I thought HF sounded very disgusted at Kerry's campaign and he sounded like he was resigned to the probability that Bush would win. But he also said that Edwards was saying the things that Kerry should have been saying. Great stuff!
Mirror, mirror on the wall,
Why is my campaign in free fall???
er, ah, umm, look in the mirror and ask the question again.
Pay no mind to Matthews. It's difficult seeing your candidate's chances of becomning President evaporate more and more on a daily basis. Clearly he already saw the polls numbers for today, poor thing.
I heard that there was a "Don't be a Girly Man, Vote for W" shirt circulating. I may make one myself with mini colored rhinetones spelling the words. Could be a good conversation piece.
As a loyal reader of this supercallifragilistic thread (grin), I didn't watch the show so I don't personally feel the nuances of Matthews this morning, but have you seen how his latest ad tries to turn the debacle of Zell Miller's handling of him into a "why we are the most-watched show" kind of thing?
Sounds like Matthews explained well what happened to the Kerry campaign, that the Bush campaign has destroyed his credibility. By saying Kerry had to do the "same thing" but do it "carefully" he is offering good advice. Any GOP consultant or pundit in a moment of candor might say the same thing.
Just got back from visiting a friend who was a delegate from our county to the RNC. She showed me her pair of Kerry flip flops that she had picked up at the convention. Great stuff!
Can you imagine the Dems' agony every time the TV cameras showed thousands of delegates waiving their flip flops?
I missed that but will look for it. "Hardball: the most hated name in cable news!"
Fair enough, though the "open like a tuna can" line was over the top in these times, IMHO.
Something else: We've seen how often Kerry takes a day off, or has a vacation. He heads to one of his many palacial playgrounds, for rest, to write a speech...then we see him indulging in one of his expensive hobbies. He's probably had the same pisspoor work ethic in the senate, leaving the work for others. We didn't know and the people of MA didn't care, but it's sure exposed now.
You'd think a serious presidential candidate would present a more serious image. Not Kerry. It's as if he considers himself "entitled" to the perks of life Teresa's money provided.
The President has had his credibility hammered for years by everyone on the left... a continous barrage. It's been done to death.
There isn't any Bush bash left.
To me that is the single biggest story in this election. Kerry has been flat out accused of lying, and will not defend himself . . . because he can't.
He can't show his face on Meet the Press because he knows that the first question out of Russert's mouth would be: "Senator Kerry, were you ever, EVER, in Cambodia?"
"Matthews fantasized that in October, Clinton will make a dramatic comeback that will create "overwhelming sentiment" in places such as the inner city and south Florida. "He could be a Lazarus." "
Well I half expect bjclinton to walk out of that hospital claiming to have seen the "LIGHT" and take up preaching.
Chrissy sure sees him as a "god".
Exactly.....he sends out surrogates to call the Swiftees liars but doesn't refute their charges with any facts. It worked for Clinton but Slick wasn't trying to get elected like Kerry.
As someone has pointed out, the debates present a real danger from Kerry. Any self-respecting moderator, even a liberal one, would have to ask the Cambodia question. I can't wait to see what Kerry would say.
I'm sure the question would be balanced by one to Bush about his National Guard record, but even so, there is a difference between being a less-than-stellar weekend warrior and flat out lying about what you claim was the seminal event of your life that was 'seared, seared' in your memory.
Funny, I liked Chris Matthews for a while because he was quite tough on Clinton on the whole lying under oath thing.
