Who Is Paying For Clinton's Surgery?
self

Just wondering about the perks of Ex-Presidents. Have done some searching on the subject and come up empty handed.
There was a bill proposed in 1999 by Rep. Howard Coble (R-N.C.) to cut the perks of ex-Presidents. One aspect of the bill says an ex-President doesn't get Medicare until he turns 65. Just like anyone else. I am not sure this bill passed or not.
I know this is no big deal. However, it is an interesting piece of minutiae.

While we're at it, let's cut secret service protection for ex-presidents as well. I see nothing wrong with taxpayers picking up the tab for Clinton or any other President's surgery and wish him a speedy recovery.

Don't forget that his wife is also a US Senator, so he is covered by Uncle Sam regardless of whether it is by virtue of his former prez status or his marriage (or whatever you wish to call it) to Hillary.
For the record, I think Uncle Sam should supply health insurance to former Presidents.

Im wondering why he did not go to Canada or England, since their medical system is so wonderfull...

Clinton never got their socialist universal coverage through. So my guess is, he won't pay the bill...after 6 months the hospital writes off the debt. Perhaps he used a cover name when he signed in, like that of an illegal Mexican alien so he doesn't have to pay.

I think we are paying but thats no big deal to me. On the other hand I'm all for dropping retired senators and representatives from the payroll.

I don't know about petty. When Hillary made an appearance outside the hospital a couple of days ago she bragged about what a relief it was that they had such excellent health insurance. Hubby's in the hospital and she can't resist making a political jab about health insurance. I thought it was very tasteless.

In a Bill that Clinton signed before he left office Secret Service Protection is now limited to 10 years after leaving office. Except for Clinton, he will be the last President to get lifetime protection.
Ex-Presidents I think get all of their medical care at taxpayer expense and I don't think they ever go on Medicare.
Of course with all the money that Clinton is making he could just pay for his own surgery but of course he won't do that.

I agree with this statement...
Regardless of what a sleeze ball he is...he was President...I have no problem with him getting continued healthcare and SS protection.

Former presidents, like members of congress (once vested), are covered by the same healthcare plan that was extant while in office. And it is proper that such be the case.

"...For the record, I think Uncle Sam should supply health insurance to former Presidents. and for the record he should be covered just as any other employee - I think it is 5 or 10 years of service (vested) and you pay your "fair share", as I do. Originally, it was supposed to be half of the cost, but, I think the employee pays more than that, plus deductible, plus no dental or eye glasses.
He is most likely covered by Hillary's plan... or the cost will be a gift from an unstated contributor - possibly one in yellow robes, etc.

Tasteless Hillary is an oxymoron!

The Federal Employees Health Plan, maybe? It's decent coverage. (I know, I have it as a federal retiree.)

Who Is Paying For Clinton's Surgery? We are. Just like we are paying for the millions of government employees and hacks that make top-shelf salary's, top-shelf medical benefits/perks, and those fantastic government pensions.
We are paying for it all.
