Abortion: out of interest, I'd like to know what FReepers precise views are...

Posted on 09/06/2004 10:43:59 AM PDT by BritishBulldog

for instance, while most of us here will obviously find it appalling, do you think it should be allowed,

- in cases where the mother was raped?

- where the pregnancy endangers the health or life of the mother

- where the pregnancy endangers the mental health of the mother

- or not under any circumstances

And are your beliefs based on religion or personal conviction?

For myself, I am very against it generally but think it should be considered in very early stages in the above examples. I'm not really religious but just think it's a very wrong practice.

I'm pro choice.

But the time for choosing is while you still have your knickers on.

After that, you are responsible for your actions. If your actions result in conception, at that time, sucking that life from the womb is not a viable choice in my opinion.

A woman who is impregnated by a reported criminal act and those that would be to protect the life & health of the mother would be the only abortions allowed if it were up to me.

No law will stop abortion. Anyone who wants one will get one. The only way is to convince people that it is wrong, rather than force unenforceable laws on people. I would like to see the issue out of politics, where both the right and left are using it for political gain.

In my case, I oppose all abortions except if the mother's life is in danger. Then a tough decision needs to be made.

It comes down to the use of force on one being over another. An unborn child is a seperate being than the mother.

My biggest influence is that I was born 3 months early.

- in cases where the mother was raped?
No. The abortion will not undo the rape. Giving the child up for adoption would be the best way to turn a bad experience into a good thing.

- where the pregnancy endangers the health or life of the mother
Life, yes. Health, no. All pregnancies pose some risk to the woman's health. If the woman's life is clearly in danger, then the child's life would also be in danger.

- where the pregnancy endangers the mental health of the mother
No. Hormonal changes are a part of every pregnancy.

And are your beliefs based on religion or personal conviction?
My personal convictions are rooted in my religious beliefs.

Over 40 million babies killed...and almost none of them for the reasons pro aborts love to
use as the reason the other 39,990,000 babies had to die...in most gruesome and painful ways..

Abortion is merely the ancient religion of Moloch worship...coupled with the sexual licentiousness of Ishtar worship...

Sexual immorality leads to unwanted pregnancy...which leads to pre born child sacrifice...

Over 40 million sacrificed since Roe V Wade...

If that alone doesn't disgust and shock....it is because a heart is so hardened it is dead...

Abortion is an abomination to God...and a nation founded by God and Godly men is in danger when it turns its back on God..the old testament is a great example of how this works and the kinds of things that happen to Godly nations who turn their back on God and go awhoring after 'other' gods...

I'm against abortion but do recognize a necessity of a few early term abortions. I think we could get the rate down to a few hundred per year. I really can't give any clear reasons for my belief.

I see abortion as murder of an unborn child. While I also believe that God will forgive any sin with repentance, this particular sin has been known to come with emotional damage for the parents.

No elective abortions ever, in any case.

I oppose all abortion with the exception of the life of the mother or when there is an extreme malformation of the fetus. I believe the law should allow abortion in cases of rape or incest even though I am morally opposed to abortion for those reasons.

Absolutely correct! It is a "hearts and minds" issue. If you believe in our constitution, then you have to believe that we are guaranteed life...If giving birth threatens the mother's life, then the choice must be hers and not mandated by law or we are no better than the Chinese that force the issue the other way. I also believe that in the case of a minor child, or an adult with informed consent, rape falls into the same category. Having society make the decision is like re-victimizing the victim.

Having two daughters will mold your opinion faster than any other factor...and God will sort us all out in his own time anyway.

I'm against it, except in the case of rape, incest, the mothers life being endangered and for liberals in their 80th or more trimester of life!
