"Fathers will bury their children, and after 40 days (the Orthodox mourning period) ... they will take up weapons and seek revenge," said Alan Kargiyev, a 20-year-old university student in Vladikavkaz.
I think history will look back on this tragedy as a pivotal event in the war on terror. Putin will now be firmly behind Bush, and the Russians will be absolutely ruthless when it comes to dealing with the jihadists.
what exactly did Putin say he was going to do?
Shouldn't they pass "gun free school" legislation? That's what we're depending on in this country.
Ok, just a thought.

The only thing good about this crime against humanity is that AQ has now opened a second front. History has proven that no despot can prevail against Russian. Napoleon and Hitler could not prevail, and I wish AQ the same fate.
And maybe an "assault weapons" ban as well. That would really restrict the terrorists!
Putin wasn't awake enough to join our coalition when they had the chance, or perhaps was intimidated by the possibility that THIS would happen. Girly-man no more.
I hope so. I really hope that the French don't interfere and weaken his resolve by insinuations that he needs to fear the US more than the terrorists. They have a long history of interfering with Russia in this way, like they did before WWII when the Britain was trying to negotiate with the Russians, and France kept painting the British to them as having ulterior motives.
I fear that Putin will use this as an excuse to impose more authoritarian rule in Russia, rather than see it as a reason to do what he should do-deal with the terrorists in the only relevant way,on their own terms.
And France will be there like a snake in the grass, whispering in his ear that he can't "undermine his independence" by showing any solidarity with the US and the coalition.
I hope he's firmer than the Czars were when France did the same thing.
Lesson learned: America cannot afford John Kerry.

For all the media and liberals who lurk here, if you vote for Kerry, YOU ARE IDIOTS!
PUTIN! Stop supporting Iran!
piss on you russia. youre getting what you deserve.
You're right, and that quote, 'We showed weakness, and weak people are beaten,' should resonate in the US. Hello, Liberals everywhere and JF..ing Kerry. Muslim monsters are only interested in sitting down to chat after they've blown up all you hold dear and plan to move on to the next school, town, country. They shoot you in the back as they run out the door. There's no compromise possible. Total defeat is necessary, whatever that takes.

I think as far as terrorism is concerned, the us and russia have been on the same page for a long time. Other differences between the countries, such as economics, geopolitics (meaning the US integrating former SSR;s and warsaw pact members into NATO), and the invasion of Iraq (which the bulk of the world believes was a secular despotic government that did not support AQ) are the major issues between the US and russia. The US has always made sympathetic notes when russia goes and razes villages or whatever in chechnya.
