Actually, that completely understandable sentiment raises the specter that the Communists and "neo-Communists" who miss the old Soviet days (when they bossed the entire world around while the US got excoriated at every turn) may exploit this to return to power. I am 100% in favor of Russia cleaning out this rat's nest, but we do not want a neo-Soviet revival, since this time no telling when it would fall, and it would probably mix extreme rightwing nationalist ideology along with its Marxism (a la the "National Bolsheviks").
Ironically, much of the world seems to divide the moslem world into the Arab bloc and the Turkish bloc (ie, Turkey, Albanians, and Bosnian moslems). There are Jewish liberals (and non-Jewish liberals) who simply cannot make the connection between Arab bloc and Turkish bloc moslems, and so they identify with and support Turkish bloc moslems as fellow-victims of "chr*stian" decimation while attacking the Arab bloc moslems. And of course the "palaeoconservatives" point to this to justify their support of Arab bloc moslems against Israel while looking on Turkish bloc moslems as the ancient enemies of "chr*stendom" (and the old line about the Jews actually being Turkish "Khazars" may play a role here as well). Similarly, the European nations who opposed our war in the Balkans (as did I, btw) such as Serbia and Greece, concentrate their ire on Turkish bloc moslems and actually support the PLO, the Kurdish Communists, Saddam Hussein, etc., whom they see as fellow victims of "Zionist" America.
Okay, that was a bit dispassionate and unemotional post on a very emotional thread. Please forgive me if it was inappropriate.

The same thing happened to me. Last week I was having dinner with a bunch of liberals (this is Massachusetts, they're all liberals) and when I talked about terrorism and that it is a religious war it stopped the dinner party. They ALL disagreed. Last night I saw one of them - so being the trouble maker that I am I brought up the topic of the Russian school. She made a comment about civil war rebels. Her jaw dropped almost to the ground when I told her that they were Islamic. This is a very well read, international person. She has lived on four continents. She had NO IDEA. Wait till I see her again to tell her that at least ten of them were Arab mercenaries.
Please do not call the terrorists animals. Animals only kill for food or to defend their young. These are "things, subhuman things" that kill for pleasure. What kind of sick f'n bas@#$D shoots a child in the back or allows todlers to be burned alive? I hope they rot in hell.
