BESLAN, Russia - A group of about 30 women and children broke out of a school in southern Russia where militants were holding hundreds of people captive Friday, a news agency reported, after two loud explosions were heard and Russian commandos opened fire near the building.

The Interfax news agency said that the school's roof had collapsed and militants were shelling and firing from the building. Interfax said the hostages who broke out of the school included women and children. It was impossible to immediately verify the reports.

Two helicopters hovered overhead. An ambulance rushed from the scene and CNN reported that at least two people were wounded. On Thursday, the militants inside the school had released some 26 of the hundreds of hostages held inside the building since Wednesday.

The real problem is that they never have to pay. The enemy, or anyone who permits the enemy, or anyone who encourages the enemy, or anyone who ignores knowledge that could help us destroy the enemy, is a legitimage target. I would nuke France if I thought it needed doing. As it stands, I can think of some better targets.

The world had better realize that we're not joking when we say you're either with us or your against us.

They will pay. I think I know what that construction or emergency worker said to the President when he said bac, "I agree."

Past politics aside, I would gladly fight alongside my Russian brothers to defend civilization from the islamofascists.

I totally agree. Let's hope that Condoleeza, a Russian specialist, made headway in that regard with President Putin. Imagine the Kerry cabinet -- a cabinet without someone who speaks Russian. I can. It's called "a snafu."

Putin has been to the UN MANY, MANY times asking for help. But to no avail!!

Putin should be coming to US/Bush for help. The UN is powerless .... and let's hope they remain so. No GLOBAL GOVERNMENT!

Fox is again reporting it was a planned escape attempt, not an accident. It might be awhile before we find out the true number of the injured and the dead.

Christians and moderate Muslims together should fight the Wahhabists. In Russia it's happening now.

Ooh, better not say that on FR. Accoring to the consensus here, all Muslims are inherely raving evil monsters.

In Peru, the army played blaring music every day to cover up the sound of digging the tunnel used to launch the rescue.

Just because they had on different clothes doesn't mean this was the exact time they planned on getting out of the building.

Well, I guess it's your theory and you're sticking with it, which is your right. But these are reports coming from survivors.

A thought from McCain's convention speech is sticking in my mind

Please, please don't mention McCain. He was an avid supporter of the Chechen terrorists, he asked for sanctions against Russia. He supported the Albanian terrorists in Kosovo too. Please, don't mention him here.

Knock off the bitching about our president, you girly whiner.

What the hell is your problem?

Blaming GW at this time sounds like something Kerry would say.

Just shove it with your whining about GW.

GW will condemn this like he has other acts of terrorism.

Then he and Putin will work to eliminate these terrorists.
The ball is in Putin's court.

I pray that it won't. If it happens here, it will make Columbine look trivial in comparison.

Think about this... these idiots were smart enough to get a whole school as a hostage, smart enough to take in the tools necessary to secure the perimeter. This doesn't quite fit into that whole plan.

They weren't smart enough to figure out that Putin wouldn't give them what they want. However, they seem to have been smart enough to realize that if they changed into civvies, they might blend into the population and escape.

What in the hell are you talking about? No one's blaming GW for anything.

Take two cans of Ensure and STFU.

"They must be good students of history. After all, aren't they emulating the winter in Valley Forge when George Washington and his freedom fighters held the population of Valley Forge Schools hostage for the freedom of America?"

How many students do you think were in schools in Valley Forge at that time in history? Were they denied food and drink? Were they tortured, bloodied? Did the English have to storm the schools to free the student hostages from the American terrorists?

Not a story I am familiar with, but your point is? Are you justifying the action of these disgusting criminal terrorists? Are you calling them patriots? You refer to these terrorist as Freedom Fighters? Are you inferring that George Washington was a terrorist? Are you one who believes the USA has been responsible for the attacks against America and Europe? Are you a terrorist? If not you must be a democrat, next best thing!

By the way, I hope our homeland security folks are thinking about how they're going to address these problems here.

I know my solution: arm the teachers, the principle, the bus drivers, the custodians, the counselors, the temp teachers, the crosswalk escort staff, and the parents.

Inspect the school yards daily before school starts.

Use metal and explosive detectors at big schools.

Plan for LEO infiltration and threat isolation in advance -- for every school.

Establish radio communications for most authority figures on the grounds.

Encourage the kids to discuss threats in advance and how they will respond.

Get parent-permitted kids into supervised firearms literacy programs.

There's probably more...

Listen Sweetheart, I don't know where you came up with this Professor crap, but it is not needed here, and is not constructive.

I'm talking about professional squads, covert, ala the Phoenix program.

This problem has to be stamped out, eradicated, eliminated.

In God We Trust…..Semper Fi!
