The margin of error is still pretty wide. Remember, nearly every analyst had Charley pegged for Tampa and look how wrong they were.
Eeesh. My mom lives in Ft. Pierce and my step-dad is recuperating from spinal surgery up in Vero Beach. I told Mom on Monday to be prepared to join up with a couple of her friends and get out of Dodge. I'll call her this morning and make certain that she took me seriously. I don't want her to attempt to sit this out in their manufactured home.
I wonder how many more times the strike predictions will change in the next few days.
Looks like DisneyWorld will get blasted. Labor Day visitors are likely a goner for them.

My daughter lives in Port St. Lucie,I'm just wondering if you could tell me where St. Lucie is in regards to the hurricane's projected path-I'd be much obliged.
I don't think she's taking this situation seriously enough,she's not an experienced Florida native and I'm starting to get concerned for her-thanx in advance for any advice or info you may give.

We're evacuating tomorrow for the west coast.
The sharp right turn once it hits land is pretty interesting. I'm in Tampa Bay so I'm watching, but this one's going to be hard to predict it seems and also hard to predict impact to the west coast because of direction it takes once it hits land.
I think conventional wisdom is they lose strength quickly once they hit land, so even if it came across the state, its force would be greatly lessened once it got to Tampa.
But for those in the know, didn't Charley stay a pretty intense storm even after it made landfall?
Oh well, still got all our supplies on hand, but wondering about putting boards back on the picture windows if it's headed this way.
I'm in Jacksonville and the weather dudes here are stressing that there is still a lot of margin for error. We are preparing nonetheless.

One model that had shown a S FL landfall for the past 4 days (The ECMWF) just flipped to a Georgia landfall.
The GFS just flopped yet again from S FL to just north of Jacksonville.
