Welcome to Wednesday's Hurricane Frances news-twist !

It looks like a Melbourne Landfall after all, once again (to Section9's worst fears) churning it's way North along the Coast Highway ...

Just stand by - while the Andrew Path scenario is alive and well (Miami to New Orleans), there's another one still equally likely: a slow-down as Frances approaches could portend a turn straight up the coast (a la Floyd's path).

Rooms as far as Alabama are filling up per Ch. 13 news conference with Sheriff Beary. (Orange County) They are advising people to leave today or tomorrow if they wish to leave Florida as they do not know for a fact where it will hit and it is so big. Mass evacuations in Central Fla. are not planned at this time except possibly mobile home parks. Even if it hits the coast as a Cat. 4, it will be a Cat 3 at Max in Orlando.

I have so much adrenaline right now and I'm drinking coffee! LOL I'm going to be one wired blonde pretty soon! Good though it will provide me energy to get things done.

Looking at the satellite pic, Frances would have to go across S FL in order for N FL to be untouched and it doesn't look like that is going to happen. We'll see in a couple of days.

we used to live in the People's Republic of Chapel Hill, so I know how looooong a ride it is! We loved the area and the downtown restaurants etc but hated the UNC's idiotic administration. I'd love for my daughter to experience a college town environment like Chapel Hill without the leftist indoctrination. Probably not gonna happen.

Try Clemson. No kidding. The town looks just like Chapel Hill use to!

I don't know about that...they are ACC rivals now. I am a Miami Hurricane (bad nickname choice right now).

I live in a mobile home 20 miles north of Orlando. I plan either to go to a house where my sister lives 10 miles north or leave Florida to visit my dear brother in Tennessee. Tomorrow we will know for sure.

Generator is outside chained to a tree with plenty of 14GA cord between us!

Not going to happen this time. There will be no Florida-saving trough to pick her up and away this time. The closest trough will be over on the NW coast of the USA. In fact, if it slows, it is more likely to bend back to the west this time.

I lived through Hurricane Elena in 1985 and Hurricane Hugo in Sept. of 1989. This looks to be on par with Hugo and/or Andrew. Making it through a Class 5 Hurricane is an experience you'll NEVER forget.

You are not out of the woods yet, but things look better for the Keys then they did yesterday. But a big jog west and you are in trouble again.

If we loose power, my neighbors know that they can plug in to our generator to keep the vitals running.
