Las Cruces, N.M. -- Senator John McCain says he's "very appreciative" of a White House offer to help pursue court action against outside political ad groups.
The Arizona Republican has prodded President Bush to condemn ads from a group calling itself "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth." The group has attacked John Kerry's Vietnam record, saying he doesn't deserve his medals and shouldn't be commander-in-chief.
McCain tells The Associated Press he doesn't want the independent political groups "abolished." He says they should just "live under the same campaign finance restrictions" as other groups.
Bush called McCain from aboard Air Force One today while on his way to New Mexico. A Bush spokesman says the men spoke about the issue.
The spokesman says Bush will support McCain in court action against the ads or if that fails, work toward a legislative solution.
Don't they have freedom to run what ever they want and with whatever funding they have? Both the right and left should be allowed to stay.

The NYT has gone stratospheric. The Swift Boat boys through their 527 spent $500,000 for anti-Bush ads. Their complaints should fall on deaf ears as they failed to mention the $70 million the Democrat's 527 spent on anti-Bush ads, the $35 Million the Kerry Campaign has spent on Bush-bashing ads, but more importantly the $100 Billion gift of free Bush bashing the media has given the Democrats this last year on front page and leading TV diatribes.
By inference the Demomedia paints the Swift Boat Veterans as liars, paid for by the demon Republicans. As if you could get 254 old salty dogs to expose their families and their fortunes to the libel suits that would be filed if there was any truth to the NYT insinuation. No, the boys know that truth is an absolute defense against libel. And that's why they are willing to tell these truths.
The extent to which the Democrats and their eunuchs in the media are willing to stoop is so low it can only be judged in pre-civilized terms. They want Bush to stop the free speech of the Swiftees and they have filed with the FEC to stop the ads the Swiftees are airing.
But the Demomedia and their Democrat handlers can bleat all they want, their actions are only attempts to obscure what the public really wants to know: what is the truth? Is John Kerry the only hero of the Vietnam War? Are the 254 Swiftees paid liars? What kind of sailor was this confessed self-promoter who carried a camera and staged simulated battles to film for later use in his political career? The answer to these and other questions have to be answered. A long torturous trek to get them is in front of us. Lets have the hand-rubbing fun that only comes when the lesser of us gets his due for the pain and suffering he has inflicted on others.
While we are at it, ask yourself how Kerry's campaign can state with certainty facts that would only be available in John Kerry's military and medical records. Do they have them? Can they release them so all of us can see. Why hasn't the Demomedia petitioned the courts and the Freedom of Information Act to release John's historical records. The answer. They can't afford to. If they do, he is dead.
Of course we don't expect the Demomedia to deal with the facts anytime soon. That's fine with me. That will only build pressure from the public for them to uncover the truth. They can only run interference for this traitor for so long. The majority of the public already despises this group of lying hypocrites posing as intellectuals and dictating what real Americans should feel and think.
My guess, a bloodbath will occur, with the Democrat Party being split into many competing pieces which will think hard and long before electing a "Hillary" as their pretender next time around. If you think John has problems, wait until the author of that "great right-wing conspiracy" steps up to the plate. I was in the cattle-feeding business for 30 years, Hillary claims she took $1,000 and just by reading the Wall Street Journal she ran it to $100,000 by trading cattle futures. That lie, by comparison to John's basement whoppers, is the penthouse.
To date the Demomedia's networks have broadcast 75 stories that Bush went AWOL and only 9 stories trashing the Swiftees. Have heart, the truth will out. Liars won't win this time.

John Kerry has released the names of CEOs supporting him for President. Listed prominently on his list is the Crate and Barrel -- Gordon Segal, CEO. Mr. Segal by lending his name to the Kerry campaign wants us to vote for Kerry AND buy products from him as well. Now if you support John Kerry, by all means buy your dinnerware from Segal. If you are going to vote for George Bush exercise YOUR right of free speech by lending your objection to his choice by BOYCOTTING Crate & Barrel.
PASS THIS TO ALL REPUBLICANS ON YOUR E-MAIL LIST. THEY TOO MAY WISH TO BUY THEIR DINNERWARE ELSEWHERE.
The Power to boycott is as sacred as lending your name and the name of your corporation to a particular candidate. So boycott away. More corporations and their CEOs are on Kerry's list. We can only cast our objections one way. Don't buy their products. It is a small consolation for the bias the leftist media throws at us day and night. Well I think this is the right tact for the WH to take. Because it appears tht the WH supports stopping these ads by offering two avenues to take that require a long time to carry out, lets say until January 2005.
Likely it is a lot, and that is a problem for us. How is it advantageous for Americans to have political leaders beholden to non American political contributers?
The Chinese contributed a lot of money to Clinton and in return (?) they moved forward their nuclear programs by decades. Coincidence?

Money is free speech.
People no longer gather at the Boston Common (or wherever) in order to engage each other in debate and dialogue. They did do that regularly even in the 1960s when I was a child, and I remember lots of passionate speeches by ordinary folks on a myriad of issues.
Nowadays the Media is the new "Common" and it takes money to be heard in the media. Shopping Malls are also considered to be a form of new "Common" as the courts in different areas have ruled that private owners of such malls cannot prohibit persons from gathering and expressing themselves and utilizing their "freedom of speech."
Every time I see Kerry anywhere doing or saying anything my support for President Bush multiplies.

Kerry is also against free speech. Allowing speech you agree with is not free speech. All despots allow speech they agree with.
Anyone that doesn't know McCains true colors now has bigger problems. He isn't a republican, he isn't a conservative, he isn't a team player for the GOP. He's out for himself.
All respect due for his service to our country but he's not to be trusted with any position of authority IMO.
