I am slightly sympathetic to districts having the authority to decide what they will sell, but when I hear the word "banish" I start to get concerned. If they mean that literally, that they have the right to regulate what kids bring in from outside, they are way off the reservation. Don't laugh, that's exactly what's happening at a school in Kalifornia where my wife's cousin's kids go.

Milk has quite a bit of sugar in it.
IMO, there is ample evidence linking sugar and obeseity.

I was raised on carrot juice and my kids will be raised on carrot juice.

Do they have a peanutbutter-free table in the cafeteria?

Well, Margaret Thatcher warned against taking a position in the middle of the road, because you get hit from both sides, but nonetheless I'm a moderate here.
On one hand, NANA's position that milk is of "poor nutritional quality" is absurd on its face.
But on the other hand, milk is undeserving of its mystique as an absolutely essential substance kids must have every day (a quart, if you believe the dairy lobby).
Milk is a good food. But it's not the must-have that has been drilled into the heads of parents for decades.

I must not be doing something right according to some of these districts:
My oldest son drinks milk and water. Sometimes a Capri sun drink every now and then.
Youngest son drinks orange juice, water, Capri sun drinks. (refuses milk)
I don't buy sodas to drink at home. While eating out the kids will drink milk or Sprite *points to above preferences*
Now go take a look at my profile page to see pics of my skinny kids *LOL*

Hell will freeze over before I drink that fat-free "milk." My kids won't touch it, either.
As for the schools deciding that they won't sell whole milk anymore...I suppose that is their decision, though unless there is refrigeration available to the kids, they won't even be able to bring it from home -- and I DO have a problem with that.

For dinner tomorrow night I am going to feed my children veal with a big glass of milk. Nothing like baby cow and milk. Hopefully, the poor baby cow was stuck in an industrial farm, in a small stall and unable to move its entire life. So Yummy, and at the same time if pisses off those eco-wacko, tree hugging, twig eating liberals.

"which advocates taxing sodas and restricting their availability in order to eliminate fizzy drinks from the diets of both children and adults." Social engineering using the tax code is un-American.

Oh, for crying out loud - grow up, people.
I'm 42 years old and have drank milk from the get-go, and have suffered none of the ill effects trumpeted here.
If you are that paranoid, stop drinking water, breathing air and eating vegetables. I'm sure if you look long enough, you will find there is something life-threatening about them as well.

What the liberal media will never tell you is that one of the members of CSPI's NANA coalition - the American Dietetic Association - is funded by the National Dairy Council. When will the libtards wake up and realize that CSPI is a hypocritical organization? As John Kerry voted for the $87 million before he voted against it, CSPI was for trans fats before they were against trans fats. CSPI likes to whine and bitch about how Rick Berman and CCF are an industry-funded front group, yet they turn a blind eye when it comes to industry-funded front groups dictating nutrition policy on its fake nutritional advocacy coalition. CSPI is nothing but a front group for the Rockefeller banksters. THAT is why CSPI is pushing hard for the soda taxes and salt taxes and fat taxes. It isn't about making you healthy. It's about funnelling money away from the people and into the hands of CSPI's Rockefeller bankster overlords. I mean for crying out loud, CSPI's headquarters are located IN A BANK BUILDING!
