I have mixed feelings about how the media has responded to this.

Another good aspect to the media attention, regardless of their spin, is that it's making the general public aware of the book, "Unfit for Command." There's nothing the media can do to keep a citizen ignorant of the facts of this case once he's read that book.

"As to quantity, that has mostly come after the citation by Hume, and that has come mostly as a result of Kerry's response."

Well, I had been watching at least part of Scarborough, Matthews, and Olberman almost every night for the past couple weeks, and believe me -- SBVT was the top story for several nights before Kerry came out with a response. Indeed, Kerry would not have responded at all if it looked like the story was dying -- or if Fox News was the only outlet reporting it.

"What seems to be escaping you, is the fact that Kerry lied and caused incredible damage to our military servicemen during and after the war."

I'm not sure why you think that seems to be escaping me.

"The 'AWOL vs SVFT' coverage comparison is, as far as I know, limited to 2004 coverage."

I was just going by what one person said in this forum. I didn't see Brit Hume give the stat. How do you know it's limited to 2004 coverage? And even if it is, which the person who cited the stat didn't claim, the SBVT story just came out a couple weeks ago, not at the beginning of the year. Besides, the figure was that only nine stories had been out on the SBVT story, and I've seen and read far more than that. Granted, I'm not sure when Brit made the assertion, so I suppose I can't say whether I had read more than nine stories BEFORE that point. But I can say that I've been watching cable news every night -- with a special eye out for MSNBC -- and have seen that the SBVT story has received top billing on just about every show, just about every day.

Now, I did acknowledge the coverage wasn't fair. I was just talking about quantity.

OK -- those stats are from NBC, ABC, and CBS. I admit I haven't been watching those much. I've been watching Fox and MSNBC. And both (yes, the latter to) have devoted extensive coverage to this issue.

"How do you know it's limited to 2004 coverage?"

Because that's the only way the numbers add up.

"But I can say that I've been watching cable news every night -- with a special eye out for MSNBC -- and have seen that the SBVT story has received top billing on just about every show, just about every day."

It's top billing for two reasons: one, the networks and cable are forced to cover it because Kerry himself responded to the SVFT with an ad in two states. Two, the nature of the coverage is "This is a Bush smear campaign." Note the special graphs by the New York Times.

I was referring to MSNBC coverage before Kerry responded a few days ago, but yes, the response has fueld coverage even more.

"Two, the nature of the coverage is 'This is a Bush smear campaign.'"

Agreed, as I already said. I was referring to quantity.

You're right, Cable coverage has really picked up since Kerry came out against the Swiftees.

"I'm not sure why you think that seems to be escaping me."

Perhaps because you seem to be focused on ACT 1,and the irrelevant media coverage. If you have been logged in at all to this saga, you must know the other boot about to drop into mainstream consciousness, is much more devastating than what is currently being chatted about on the MSM outlets.

I wonder how you will "score" the "truth" from Kerry's own mouth and past actions, once they are widely known?
