Mine came in the mail today......
Have you seen what MoveOn is sending out? Clearly Soros' big bucks are being spent on a first class marketing tool.
It contains a DVD, a (small) Kerry/Edwards Sticker, two articles, Kerry's liberal voting record, Kerry's (outlandish) promises and instruction cards on how to spread the word on the 'real John Kerry'.
The DVD contains footage from the upcoming documentary on Kerry by George Butler 'Going Upriver: the Long War of John Kerry'. (Does this movie have film that Kerry himself shot in Vietnam?)
The articles praising Kerry are by David Kusnet, speechwriter for Clinton '92-94 and David Corn of The Nation magazine.
Those who get the kits are instructed to have a dinner party & invite friends to view the DVD and then get them to order their own 'Kits' and do the same....also to email everyone they know to order their own 'Kerry Kit.
While it says the kit is 'not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee' wouldn't Kerry have to authorize the use of the Butler film if he gave his own film to Butler?
Also the Kit is Called 'The KERRY KIT" so it is clearly promoting Kerry.
This sounds like a CLEAR violation of campaign finance law. These 527 groups are suppose to be barred from promoting a particular candidate. The CAN promote issue adds - but NOT A SPECIFIC candidate.
Where's the FEC on this?????
I agree, contact the main GOP website and let them know about this tie between Kerry and Moveon! Maybe we can nail them Good!!
If these 527's are supposed to be neutral and aren't allowed to promote any candidate, how do they get away with sending out these Kerry Kits? Or does that rule only apply for TV ads?
I want one. In time it will fetch a fortune on eBay.
Where do you see that? I'm interested and need to know quickly because the Dallas Morning News is showing mild interest in the relationship between the Kerry campaign and the 527.
WOW.....interesting....thanks for finding this info.
I note that the Administrative Contact has an email at MoveOn.org not MoveOnPAC
.......eli.pariser@moveon.org
In lieu of a Kerry Kit.....anyone can go to the site
www.kerrykit.com
and download and print out the material included in the Kit.
Anyone including the Swiftees can do that.
The MoveOn.org address is on the envelope that Kerry Kit was sent in.
In other words MoveOn,org and NOT MoveOnPAC is the return address and I'm assuming that's because MoveOn paid the postage....so it came from MoveOn.
That looks like a violation of 527 groups.....to me.
FYI......PING
MoveOn.org is sending out Kerry Kits which claim to be from MoveOnPAC.org
I posted this on a mostly hate Bush Politics forum that whines about the swift boat ads.
I checked out the Administrator of MoveOnPAC.org and found he began with the Anti-War Wing of MoveOn.org....

How very appropriate!
Note Eli Pariser is called MoveOn's executive director, NOT the administrator or coordinator of MoveOnPAC.org in this article:

"The Kerry campaign is gloating this weekend over the resignation of Bush-Cheney volunteer former Vietnam War POW Ken Cordier , who's featured in the latest Swift Boat ad saying it proves illegal coordination between the Swift vets' 527 group and the official Bush campaign," NewsMax.com reported yesterday.
"But [John] Kerry has no plans to fire Zach Exley, a key campaign staffer who served as the organizing director for MoveOn.org throughout the presidential primaries," NewsMax said.
"What's more, MoveOn, whose sole mission is to defeat President Bush in November, maintains that Exley is allowed to 'communicate' with the 527 group even as he works for the Democratic nominee.
" 'Col. Cordier did not inform the campaign of his involvement in the advertisement,' the Bush campaign said in a statement late Saturday. 'Because of his involvement [in the ad], Col. Cordier will no longer participate as a volunteer for Bush-Cheney '04.'
"But there's no doubt that Kerry knew all about Exley's background when he hired him.
"In April, the Kerry for President Web site proudly announced: 'Zach Exley joins the [Kerry] Internet team as Director of Online Communications and Online Organizing. He was previously the director of special projects for MoveOn.org.'
"Exley claims he won't communicate with MoveOn until after the election, but when he teamed up with Kerry, MoveOn's executive director, Eli Pariser, acknowledged that Exley will be able to make use of 'what he's got in his head.'
"And a statement issued by MoveOn when Exley signed on with team Kerry insisted, 'federal election rules permit some forms of communication' between Exley and the liberal 527."
Ketchup with a chaser ... LOL
Shalom.
BTTT
Hypocrisy Alert!
The Kerry campaign and their liberal media allies made a big deal over the weekend about Bush volunteer and former Vietnam POW, Colonel Ken Cordier.
Col. Cordier has appeared in the Swift Boat ads and Kerry's campaign charged that this "proved" illegal coordination between the Swift Boat veterans and the Bush campaign. Col. Cordier was forced to end his
volunteer work as a result.
But you probably didn't hear much about Zach Exley. Exley is no volunteer for Kerry - he is on the paid staff in charge of Online Communications.
During the presidential primaries he was a key official for MoveOn.org - a group whose sole purpose is to defeat the president. The Kerry campaign has no plans to fire Exley, even though he would appear to represent greater evidence of illegal coordination.

Many thanks to all Freepers for the research.
Dear Mr. [Dallas Morning News Editor],
Thank you very much for your note.
The confusing thing is that there 3 entities:
MoveOn.org a 501(c)(4) educational organization
MoveOn PAC; and
MoveOn Voter Fund
They appear to operate in coordination. For example, MoveOn PAC offers a Kerry Kit here. If you order the kit, however, you will see that the return address on the envelope is not for MoveOn PAC, but rather for MoveOn.org. Apparently MoveOn.org is sending Kerry Kits that are ostensibly from MoveOn PAC. As youll note, thats illegal.
According to tax law, 501(c)(4) organizations are not allowed to conduct direct or indirect participation or intervention in political campaigns on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office. The big question is why is MoveOn.org apparently sending out Kerry Kits if theyre not allowed to intervene in campaigns on behalf of a candidate? Further, MoveOn.org doesnt really seem to fit the IRSs examples of what a 501(c)(4) organization can do.
Whats more, if you do a WhoIs search on www.kerrykit.com, youll find that Eli Pariser is listed as the contact. However, Parisers e-mail address eli.pariser@moveon.org isnt with the PAC, but rather with MoveOn.org, the 501(c)(4) group. This March 2004 article describes Eli Pariser as Campaigns Director for MoveOn.org. So who does Pariser work for MoveOn PAC or MoveOn.org? Does he work for both? Is that legal?
And can you really argue that MoveOn.orgs Daily Mis-Lead actually doesnt oppose a candidate for office, as the 501(c)(4) regs prohibit it from doing?
Check out this new American Spectator article the last half deals with collaboration between the Kerry campaign and the MoveOn.org organization.
Finally, heres a list of the top individual contributors to 527 committees this election cycle. Click on the individuals name to find the 527s that the person contributed to in the 2004 election cycle. Note that 24 of the top 25 contributors contributed to Democrat-leaning groups. Despite the DMN stories that seem to imply otherwise, all the big money is going to supporters of Democrats, not to supporters of Republicans.
It looks like there is some serious law-breaking going on around here. Theyre pretty blatant about it, too, because they realize that the mainstream media will look the other way when Democrats are involved.
I hope that the Dallas Morning News will do a story on this those of us out here in internet-land are getting tired of a breathless accounting of the perfectly legal donations given to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth organization when egregious and open violations of the laws are committed by organizations like MoveOn.org. All it takes is little old-fashioned research and youll find out all sorts of things.
Please feel free to contact me if I can be of further assistance.
Best regards,
Michael XXXXXXXX
BRAVO BUMP.......MIKE
Thanks for putting all of this research together (in post #115) and contacting the Dallas newspaper.
Please keep us all informed.
This is Moveon's PAc. Is this an offshoot of Moveon.org, which may make it legal to do this via the PAC?
Anybody know?
If illegal.....this is bombshell material.
It is a different one....but still says Kerry-Edwards.
