Swifty October Surprise For Kerry
To The Point ^ | August 2004 | Dr. Jack Wheeler

Posted on 08/22/2004 3:06:46 PM PDT by Presto

Main excerpt: " However… in the famous words of Al Jolson: “You ain’t heard nothin’ yet.” The Swiftees have prepared an October Surprise for Hanoi John that is going to blow his candidacy out of the water. I can’t tell you what it is, but I can tell you the television and radio ads have already been taped, and they are going to have an impact like an elephant sitting on a donkey.

The Swiftees have three things in abundance: money, brains, and balls. They know exactly how to go for the jugular, they have the dough to do it, and they are saving their best shot for last. The Democrats will not know what hit them and will not know how to retaliate. Get set folks. The Kerry Train Wreck is not going to be a pretty sight. "

I don't think that "Big Media" understands that these guys are not just some yokels standing on the corner. They are folks who ran a large part of a major war. They understand strategic thinking and tactical thinking. Thus far, their strategy has been magnificent.

They ran a TV ad in three states but over 3/4 of the people in the country have heard of them. Just when Big Media gets it undies in a twist, they unload the "Kerry testimony before the Senate/POW" bomb!

Will Big Media take on POW's who spent over 6 years in captivity and torture? Will the Kerry camp take them on? Or will the Kerry camp try to lay it on to Bush? How long will that gambit last?

All that President Bush needs to do is repeat "ALL 527 ads should stop." Can any reasonable person argue? We know it's not going to happen, but President Bush doesn't need to get any closer. He should repeat it day after day after day.

By the way, the "October Surprise" may just be the 28 minute documentary that George Will mentioned this morning. He said that it will be released in September. Just maybe the SBVT have that one, plus one for October?

These guys may just singlehandedly save us from a Kerry presidency. And we will be forever grateful for them coming to the defense of the country one more time.

but to those of us who did......it's going to look like blessed healing.

I don't know about you, but at this moment in time, it is bringing back the anger. A blessed healing will likely cure that though.

Do you remember, even after Kerry was nominated, I said that the Democrat ticket would be Edwards/Clinton?

Um...yes, now that you mention it. Darn, you're good.

Is everyone prepared for that inevitability? I'm feeling sick at the thought myself.

That's right. It's a ban starting 60 days before the election. Yes...I know. A free speech issue. But the majority of the Supreme Court didn't see it that way.

No, it means you're not a "compassionate conservative," but rather a CONSERVATIVE like me. That said, I'm working to re-elect Bush and actively giving to his campaign AND the swifties.

How does a true conservative hold back the revulsion when you see what Bush actually did? In 2000 I thought that Bush would be a harmless caretaker who at least wouldn't advance the police state any. In fact he has advanced the domestic police state beyond anything the liberal Democrats of the last few decades would have dared.

There is nothing but tyranny and evil in the enemy combatant operations, in the patriot act, in the out of control spending and in the counterproductive war in Iraq.

Bush and the neocons have stolen the word 'conservative' just like the socialists stole the word 'liberal' 70 years ago. I hope that it doesn't take 70 years for that to become evident to the masses.

Absolutely. This money has direct and immediate impact. If you can donate to both the party and the Swifties, by all means, do it! But at this particular time, the most bang for your buck is buying airtime for Adm. Hoffman and his honorable crew.

There will be a way around the restrictions on 527's.

There are no restrictions. See post 101, 112, 116, etc. on this thread. The 60 day rule only applies to Corportations and Labor Unions, not 527's.

Are people are not sending in money to swiftvets because they falsely believe the time for is adds over soon? (If someone can refute posts 101, 112, and 116 do so, but they seem right to me.)

The Swiftees have three things in abundance: money, brains, and balls.

From what I've seen of the Swift Vets so far, they are very well-organized, they have a very smart, capable leader at their helm (John O'Neill, a damn fine lawyer by all accounts), and they have this all planned out.

They were not just thrashing around in the water with their strategy. They timed the ads to build interest in their book--which explains their case in detail. Then they strike with the second round of ads (the Kerry-claims-war-crimes ad).

What are they going to do next? I don't know, but I'm sure it will be brilliant. The Swift Vets are not a two-act show. There is going to be at least a third strike, more likely five or six total, as their plan unfolds.

I would be surprised if the Veterans did not have anything else to say about Kerry.

One of these days, we are bound to have an election that is unsettling to the voters.

I have this sinking feeling that it's going to be THIS year. As PD said months ago, it will be Edwards/Hillary. Probably at the last minute, after the debates. Even Swift Boat Veteran O'Neill said he would vote for Edwards, and after the F'n campaign fiasco, the Dim base will be all fired up on election day.

Are you saying posts 101,112, and 116 are wrong? Please say why and cite your source. It is an important issue.

But I suspect that unless an ad instructs you how to vote that it cannot be blocked

The rules have changed. Campaign finance reform sets a 60-day all-out ban on "electioneering communications" by outside groups. It doesn't matter what they say - it's blocked. The only money that can be spent is money that was donated directly to candidates or registered PACs. Money going to those organizations is carefully cataloged and limited, a.k.a. "regulated."

We already had one in 2000. This one is likely to be worse since so many states have electronic voting with no paper backup. This makes recounts impossible and any close state will be Florida 2000 squared. There will be several close states.

Me too, here in VA we just got a nice and unnecessary tax increase thanks to our Republican controlled legislature. If the party can't control their members and support their agenda what good are they.

Got a call Friday from the RNC asking for %500.00 when I explained why I wasn't boy did he get mad.

Just gave $50 and it felt good. Since this is really Kerry's plan to keep the focus off his senate record, I was glad to help him out.

Kind of felt like tagging him one on that big lantern jaw.

Gave $50 to the RNC today too but this felt better.

I am waiting for the Swifties logo material to come out. I could really tick off some coworkers with a nice Swifties polo shirt.

Really?? Did he say why he would support a Socialist such as Edwards?

What would be extra-sweet,would be the author of Fahrenheit 451 coming out & endorsing the use of the word "Fahrenheit" for such a documentary. I read someplace that this author was pretty miffed at MooMoo for using his "title" for that piece of crap he put out.He considered it tanamount to plagiarism.
