He took his daughter along as a prop when he went to buy a jock strap.

One of his daughters wore a see thru dress at the film festival.

Evidently their family is as dysfunctional as the gores and the clintons.

It's an approved by John Kerry ad, and very nasty.

Sorry, Bush is on the high ground here and they cannot truthfully tie him to the Swift Boat Ads.........

That's not the point I and the poster I responded to was trying to make. The point was that Bush's position of being against 527's and stating that only the parties should be making adverts is not a good position to take. It is an anti-free speech position. I think anybody should be able to produce adverts attacking or promoting Bush or Kerry. Whether they be freepers, SwiftboatVets or maggot infested commies. Free speech.

I am against McCain/Feingold. I think real campaign reform would be to allow any amount of spending by anyone whether they be a party, corporation, union, freeper, or commie maggot group, just have "full and immediate" public disclosure of all contributors. I also think Congressional candidates should be verboten to take any contributions from outside their State. I think any candidate who takes a contribution from a furrinor should be tarred and feathered and hung. I basically back the Buchanan proposal from the 1992 campaign.

Kerry will decide, after RATs give him the hook in private, that he's suffering from not enough windsurfing time, or bicycling, or skiing, or snow boarding and is dropping out.

None of the above. Those three wounds he received in Viet Nam are acting up, making a continued run for President bad for his health. LOL

Where is Hillary?
Where is Bill?
Where is Ted?
Where is McCain?
Where is Edwards?
Where is ANY senator to comment on either Kerry or the Swiftboat ads?

The above are on the outside looking in. Kerry is too "SWIFT" for them! (sarcasm)

And it is still your assh- er oinion!

I presume you mean opinion. And it is. I had some confirmation after I wrote it when Bob Dole was reported to have said earlier in the thread that Kerry's got the edge.

My opinion is that if Bush wins, it won't be because of Bush, but because we lucked out and Kerry self-destructs (with a lot of help from the Swift Boat Vets or some other equally damaging disclosure).

I just watched MTP on MSNBC tonight.

Devine is scary. I kept thinking he was just THIS close to pulling out a gun and blowing everybody away. Any campaign that puts this guy out in public view is not a stable organization. He scares me.

I didn't see him on MTP today, but the B/C campaign is using his words against him as seen here:

Letter To Station Managers

ARLINGTON, VA -- Below is a letter that will be sent to the television station managers on Monday morning asking stations to set the record straight on the Kerry campaign's ad falsely accusing Bush-Cheney '04 of violating campaign finance laws.

Dear Station Manager:

Your station is being asked to run an ad from John Kerry's presidential campaign wrongly accusing Bush-Cheney '04 of violating the campaign finance laws. We ask that your station set the record straight.

It is completely false and without any evidence that the Bush "campaign supports a front group attacking John Kerry's military record," as the Kerry ad states. The Bush-Cheney campaign flatly rejects this baseless allegation of illegal coordination between Bush-Cheney '04 and a group called Swiftboat Veterans for Truth. The ad running on your station contains this false and libelous charge. Coordination with Swiftboat Veterans for Truth would be a violation of federal campaign finance laws. 11 C.F.R. 109.21.

Sadly, the Kerry campaign is using this falsehood for which it publicly admits it has no evidence to distract attention and gain free publicity. Attached is a verified transcript from a CNN interview in which Mr. Kerry's own spokesman, Tad Devine, could not present even one piece of hard evidence to back up the Kerry campaign's allegations.

The attached CNN Inside Politics verified transcript shows that Kerry campaign spokesman Devine is basing his charges solely on a newspaper article, "....it's in the New York Times today." However, not even this newspaper article presents evidence of "coordination." What has been reported are the Kerry campaign's unsubstantiated charges along with the explicit denial from the Bush-Cheney campaign. In fact, after inquiring about the alleged coordination reported in the New York Times story relied on by Mr. Devine, Wolf Blitzer, based on an earlier interview with a reporter who wrote the New York Times story, corrected Devine by stating, "They don't have any hard evidence backing it up." In other words, the allegation contained in the commercial runnin g on your station is based on nothing more than the Kerry campaign's false accusations, having them reported in the media, and then the Kerry campaign referring to the published false accusations as proof.

The Kerry campaign is hiding behind the law which does not permit your station to reject this false advertising by a candidate. But your station can insure that the record is clear in your total program. We ask that you to do that.

Respectfully,

Ken Mehlman
Campaign Manager

CNN Inside Politics 8/20/04: Tad Devine

WOLF BLITZER: Let's go now to the John Kerry campaign. I'm joined live by campaign senior strategist Tad Devine.

Tad, thanks very much for joining us. Where's the hard evidence directly linking the Bush White House or the Bush-Cheney campaign to these ads as alleged yesterday by John Kerry?

TAD DEVINE, SR. STRATEGIST KERRY CAMPAIGN: Well, Wolf, it's in "The New York Times" today. There's a big chart. You know, you can take a look at it. OK?

The connections, the web of connections between this effort and the campaign are obvious for anyone to see. And, by the way, Wolf, this is part of pattern.

This is what George Bush does. He did it precisely against John McCain. They have others front for them, do their dirty work for them. They stand there and do nothing. And for the president of the United States to stand there and say nothing about this is reprehensible.

BLITZER: Well, I read the entire "New York Times" article and our viewers did. In fact, I spoke earlier today with one of the reporters who wrote the article. They don't have any hard evidence backing it up.

They have a web of connections, as you say, but there's nothing specific...

DEVINE: Sure.

BLITZER: .... because if there were, they would be breaking the law. There's a -- there's a campaign fund-raising violation that would clearly be violated. Give me the specific, name names. Who is doing this?

DEVINE: Wolf, it's obvious for everyone to see. These are Texas fund-raisers, it's precisely what happened to John McCain four years ago. They've got a web of connections between them and the Bush campaign.

They take these people. Once removed from the campaign -- and obviously they're doing it deliberately that way. They do not want the legal connections between the campaign, they're once removed from the campaign. Every time we look closer and closer at this, this is what we discover....

BLITZER: All right.

DEVINE: .... the connections between the campaign and the lies and distortions at the heart of the Swift Boat Veterans.

BLITZER: All right. So let me repeat the question. Name some names, the connections between the campaign or the White House, on the one hand, and these Swift Boat Veterans, those who are funding these ads on the other. Go ahead. Connect the dots.

DEVINE: Well, Wolf -- Wolf, I don't know how it can be anymore explicitly clear than it is in the chart in today's "New York Times." I mean, it's laid out person by person, the connections between Karl Rove and the major fund-raisers, the connection between the people making these ads, the long history of connections between them and George Bush and president -- the previous President Bush, the president's father.

These connections go back years and years. It's the same tangled web of people who tried to do this to John McCain four years ago. But let me tell you something. It's not going to happen to John Kerry.

John Kerry will fight back. He's -- and he's going to challenge the president as John McCain challenged the president, to stand up, to denounce these ads. And every day that goes buy that the president fails to denounce these ads just demonstrates his complicity in these efforts.

BLITZER: All right. So I've heard one name, Karl Rove. Are you saying Karl Rove coordinated with the Swift Boat for Veterans -- that the Swi ft Boat Veterans for Truth coordinated this ad campaign? Is that the allegation?

DEVINE: Well, Wolf, to demonstrate this, we'd have to go to court, we'd have to depose people, we'd have to put them under oath, we'd have to subject them to all the process of a legal examination. I think the facts are obvious here. It's for everyone to see.

A bunch of rich guys from Texas with long connections to the Bush campaign come out and try to destroy a veteran of the Vietnam War. It happened twice. They did it once in 2000; they're trying to do it again in 2004. The only difference is it's not going to succeed this time. That's the big difference.

BLITZER: Let me throw it this way to you.

DEVINE: Sure.

BLITZER: There are a bunch of rich Democrats out there, a bunch of active Democratic activists out there who are involved in all sorts of 527 independent ad campaigns smearing the president of the United States and the vice president right now. Because they have a long history working with other Democrats, with Kerry supporters and strategists, does it make them in violation of the law as well?

DEVINE: Wolf, when John McCain challenged Senator Kerry days ago to denounce an ad attacking the president's lack of service in the National Guard, within hours Senator Kerry spoke up publicly and denounced the ad. It's so different from what this president is doing.

This president is attempting to put out this group do his dirty work for him, and that's because the president cannot talk about economy, health care, energy independence, or how he's going to defend the nation, particularly his failure in Iraq. This is a deliberate effort on their part to distract the voters' attention away from the failures of George Bush's administration.

BLITZER: Are you going to file a complaint with the Federal Election Commission?

DEVINE: Wolf, listen, they're trying to tie us up in legal process, trying to distract this campaign and the American people from the real issues.

McCain's wounds during the 2002 campaign were ALL self inflicted.

Don't say that to Chris Matthews. He'll accuse you of claiming that McCain deliberately shot himself.

The weather/traffic break on our local NPR station is sponsored by PromiseKeepers. I think that that service would be an excellent way to raise awareness among the NPR crowd.

Every one of these politicians has "friendship," "respect," and "love" for every other politicians. I'm beginning to gag everytime I hear their declarations of "love" and "admiration."

No wonder America is cynical about politicians.

Actually, it was Chrissy who shot himself during that despicable performance. Clearly over the top the station then sent olbermann, shuster, whitman, and other waterboys to defend Chrissy. It ought to be clear to everyone by now that an intervention and rehab ought to be in Chrissy's future.
