I agree with you up to a point. I am worried about them having the financial resources to do it effectively. I remember Karen Hughes being asked at one point in an interview if the GOP would go after Kerry's military service. She said that Kerry served honorably just as W did, but what Kerry did afterwards is fair game.
I enjoyed the Krugman/Will moment.
Re McCain commenting so quickly on the Swift vets ad -
All the proKerry reporters use McCain's words but no one has used a clip of him saying them, or followed up with any other comments from him.
I think a reporter phoned him the minute the ad was aired - probably misinterpreted what was in it - and got words from McCain that were "suitably" damning.
&&&&&
I think McCain is having a serious rethink of his priorities re Bush, Kerry, Vietnam veterans and POWs in particular.
His silence seems to be shouting volumes right now.
I believe they were saying the language was excessive but not the charges. Big difference.
There's a documentary coming out???
I never ascribe decent motives to anything done by McCain.
Well done. Thank you.
"Podesta is absolutely no match for O'Neill. AND isn't it telling? The Kerry campaign sends out JOhn Podesta to defend Kerry on the very important Sunday morning ABC show. They did not send out Rassmun (sp) or any of Kerry's crew to debate O'Neill this morning on ABC. Viewers have to ask why Kerry is keeping his crewmen under wraps, not allowing them to defend Kerry publicly."
I was thinking exactly the same thing as I watched.
Better yet....in the segment on the economy, the republican spokesman reminded Stephie that "He should know how these questions work. Stephie, I bet you wrote the talking points back then." (making a very clear reference to the fact that Stephie belonged to the administration) A beautiful line. I hope others caught it.
Podboy seemed rather testy today for some reason....
...I think he forgot to take his Midol this morning.
Real heroes don't have to.
Oh ok ..I didn't know there were more then one beaching incidents that day
I haven't either until now. I am just listening to the silence and wondering.
I think Will nailed it ... this next Swiftee ad is going to be bad. and the next, and the next, and the next...
Even if the Swiftees are silenced, the net will carry on. The Blogosphere is ballooning daily.
I would say:
"President Bush would never attack any veteran, including John Kerry".
When the friends insist he has I would answer with a firm "He has NOT. President Bush respects all veterans. That is a group of veterans who have a problem with Kerry that you are seeing".
I would keep repeating those facts and not relent.
The NBC Olympic coverage at the time featured... The Women's Marathon. Very exciting. zzzzzz
"I'm weeening. I'm weeening."
I'll restate my earlier line: This might prove to be a watershed moment in Campaign 2004.
Bump to read later. Thanks for this post. I never get to watch any of the Sunday talk shows.
Ouija board (from French "oui" and German "Ja").
I think it's 'Ouija' from the frensh [sic] and jerman [sic] words for yes.
