XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX THU AUG 19, 2004 17:45:25 ET XXXXX
EMPIRE STRIKES BACK AGAINST ANTI-KERRY VETS
More than 3 weeks after the DRUDGE REPORT began shooting up flares warning of an impending campaign battle surrounding former Vietnam veterans who would not support John Kerry for president -- the media empire strikes back!
In a series of world exclusives begging in late July, this space outlined and detailed the coming book UNFIT FOR COMMAND -- a book which now sits at the top of the charts -- and the top of Friday's NY TIMES.
TIMES editor Bill Keller has reserved the lead of Page One for "the story of how swift boat veterans with a grievance were found by Republicans looking to tarnish Kerry's image," newsroom sources tell DRUDGE.
"A modern day tale of the creation of a political attack machine," declares TIMES reporter Jim Ruttenburg.
The TIMES plans to piggyback on comments made by John Kerry on Thursday against allegations that he exaggerated his combat record in Vietnam.
Kerry accused President Bush of using a Republican front group "to do his dirty work."
"Some of the veterans have recanted their stories and made charges that military records prove untrue," the TIMES explains in its 3,500-world splash, which has been previewed by DRUDGE.
Impacting late Thursday.
When the left can't defend the substance of the charge, they attack the messenger. When that doesn't work, they attack the timing.
Kerry could have easily defended himself today, or any other day, if he wants to give specifics regarding the Swift Boat guys. He has chosen not to because he can't.
Now, release your anger!
It's not so amazing when you keep in mind that the Liberal news media outlets are Democrat goons.
Every other wing of the government is checked by another, thereby keeping them all honest; all that is except for the fourth estate. What checks and balances are there fore it?
Capitalism working with an informed consumer, but the consumer relies upon the very thing for which he his responsible to keep honest, for his source of facts with which he must judge.
Thank G~d for the internet. There was much concern when America's independent papers were bought up by corporation in the eighties and nineties. But the Internet's invention and availability has filled in the gap and has maintained the balance. The timing of its creation is so perfect in hindsight that it is really amazing. The internet has beaten the capital hindrance on information. The information which is needed to drive a democracy, cannot be weighed in terms of money, it is needed faster than that. Access to that information must be completely and equally available to every citizen, regardless of his present economic circumstances. Advertisement is a delivery system option for those who cannot or will not pay for information, but it is not without it's very severe handicaps.
The internet with google in hand, in the comfort of ones home is unsurpassed in giving even the democratic citizen who's interest is merely to be entertained, access to every possible viewpoint that any of his compatriots might come up with. There are no longer any islands of man. Only mind melds with great fun.
The guys who wrote the book about Clinton's involvement with the Chinese, his taking money from them and giving them our technology, made the huge mistake of harassing anyone who posted any quotes from their book on the internet. They did not recognize this as the free advertising that it was. Consequently there was not that much discussion of their work.
These swifty vets have not fallen into this trap. They have made their stuff available on the net, have let people quote from it and talk about it. The word has gotton out on the net, and anyone whi is the least bit interested can access it.
Kerry is dead in the water, was this Hillary's plan all along? Oh this is so much fun. I hope that these scum who are in fact responsible for over a million Cambodian's deaths. the ruination of their culture and by extension Tibet's and Hong Kong and maybe even Carter's caving into Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini ~ I want to see them all to be exposed for what they really are.
Keep hittin' that Tar Baby, Dems, you'll win eventually, I promise!
Incoming! We're hitting the target. Support those Swifties folks! And remember, we're gonna win this fight. It ain't over by a long shot, but we MUST WIN.
I could be wrong .. but didn't Kerry and his camp do this same sort of thing back when the Dewey Canyon stories came to light a few months back .. and didn't Kerry blame that too on Bush??
If I recall .. didn't the Kerry Camp have to retract their story about Kerry not being at the meeting where the anti war vets voted on whether or not to assisnate 8 US Senators?
Did they mention just one of the many democrat "attack" machines doing Kerry's dirty work, like Moveon.org?

19. I knew the NYT's would come through.
They're on our side!
You are absolutely right.
Just as when Bush caved in on the education bill for Kennedy, or his father did with those taxes, it's all just sucker punches to the Left. They have no concept of, 'America the home of the free and the brave', just giveme giveme giveme. They would all be happier as despot rulers in Africa. There, they could just kill any opposition, which would greatly satisfy their true hearts desire. Never mind figuring out some abstract ultimate best way, ' by the people and for the people', the only good way is that which lines their pockets with gold and power.
really, really, really am coming to the point where I hate the MSM.
You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villany. (Sorry, I couldn't resist).
Apparently they specifically invited the writer of the page one hit piece, and he had better things to do.
You can tell him how you feel, at:

This is what I hate about the GOP. The whole country knows some baloney story about Bush missing a medical exam, he has been called a deserter and Cheney a coward. But the country deserves to know Kerry's record, but republicans will never hit him with embarrassing facts.
For my money, I'll bet the American people would not elect a guy who attended meetings about assassinating senators and never told anyone. Quitting the group is not enough. What the hell was Kerry doing in such a group?
Another good one is Kerry travelling around with fake Viet vets. Shows he is stupid and doesn't care about the truth.
Scathing e-mail sent. And good riddance.
IMO .. Bush should stay out of this .. once he gets involved then every liberal will jump on him and say SEE SEE .. He is behind it
This is between the Vets and Kerry and Kerry is a COWARD
Would it be too much for Bush to point out that Kerry hasn't said a peep about the millions George Soros et al have funded for anti-Bush ads? Not to mention Michael Moore?
Kerry...You can run, you can hide, you can zig zag, you can dodge and dart....but the truth is coming to get you!!!! No where left to Run Kerry!
Yes, Kerry's campaign had to totally backtrack on the assassinations issue, but the media just about let him off the hook. It's clear that he WAS at the KC meeting which discussed carrying out political assassinations in the US, but the vast majority of the public doesn't know about this.... YET.
I have to think that having the current story of the Swiftees hit "above the fold" on page 1 of the NY Times (if Drudge is right) will ultimately help the real story get out, even though the NY Times will do a hit piece and try to kill it. So much of the MSM has resisted even looking at this story, but once it's on page 1 of the NY Slimes, all the lemming journalists will be forced to start discussing it - there will be many more hit pieces, for sure, but with the Internet and cable TV, talk radio, etc. millions upon millions of people will soon be talking about a lot more than the 'official' Kerry party line.
