Well, well, well. I have been saying for quite a while that he wants to be King, and will brook no dissent.

"Forbes was descended from William Forbes, the Laird of Newe, an extended family that included many baronets, Burke's Peerage said."

Technically, baronets are not aristocracy. A baronetcy is a hereditary knighthood. A knight is a commoner (unless they possess other titles as well).

King Henry VIII came up with the idea when he was short on cash (he spent a lot of time fighting with other countries, which gets expensive) and needed to figure out a new way to soak the middle class for more taxes. When someone is created a knight, he has to pay a tax (scutage) to the Crown. Henry started making a lot of merchants and others baronets, and gave them the welcome news along with a hefty tax bill. They were not happy with the idea at the time.

Pretty soon he'll start claiming he's the Queen of England.

Exactly!

Every time I read one of these stories (which appear every time there is a presidential race), I realize that the "Merovingians" are alive and well.

Has anyone heard anything else about if Kerry is related to Franklin Peirce? I heard one story a couple of weeks ago. Because if he is than I am distantly related to him. (gasp)

Whatever. I'm descended from Old King Cole on my mother's side (and if the stories are true, my second cousin is a *direct* descendant, though I don't know how they found that out -- that story dates back to at least 1975) and from William the Conqueror on my father's side. (So some folks might say that I'm not really Irish because the family moved there less than 1,000 years ago.)

Then again, you all already know that I'm descended from royalty once I said that I was Irish, which, of course, is synonymous. Never met an Irishman that wasn't descended from some king or other.

I feel your pain. The Russian lineage has me riding the porcelain bus if he is truly related.

If you send a check for say $1,000 dollars to Burkes Peerage , they will find some unknown Royal you are related to too. The bigger the check the more important the Royal. With Theresa's money I am surprised Kerry isnt a Prince, hey Maybe he is---"The Prince of Tides.
