Well, this "Why didn't we know where it was going to hit" is ridiculous.
If they asked me that, I'd just say, "You can't be serious." Ignorant!

Heck, if the printer were still upstairs in the shower, I'd go join the printer.
(Gotta save water ya know...)

You are right. The absence of major reports tells me that there is too much damage to get to the locations that are the worst off. The fact that this thing is still producing to gusts after being onshore for 7 hours should tell everyone that this was a beast. Tomorrow is going to prove that this thing did a ton of damage.
To: NautiNurse
Great pic, NautiNurse! Glad to hear you made it thru the storm OK. :-)

We go to New Smyrna Beach all the time; it's not far from their house.
They are riding it out.....ugh!
You stay safe and keep posting!

LOL! Everyone (and I mean everyone) in my neighborhood was walking around in the road at sunrise this morning. We were all reporting our evac plans. I was carrying the can of spray paint. One neighbor cautioned against using profanity, in case Charley could read!

Any reports from Lakeland? Got a father-in-law and grandfather-in-law there....
To: Robert A. Cook, PE
I told ya I'll keep ya updated as soon as it gets better....
I don't want you to worry....got the local news on & if something happens you'll hear from me....(I'm on the wife's
laptop now......satellite PCM-CIA card,2 batteries, with another portable power scorce in reserve.
I luckily can still access FR even if we loose power...(fingers crossed)
To: ConservativeGadfly
Haven't heard reports about Lakeland--will listen up and let you know. Reports are always so spotty after dark. It's a long, frustrating wait to hear something. Hang in there.

Lakeland was about 25 miles west of the eye, one short report indicated little major" damage there, but lots of "minor" problems.
Make sense?
Region and neighborhoods and whole buildings weren't destroyed (most likely, as far we know) but lots of trees down and power lines down and still raining/flooding hazards. Roof damaged, signs down etc almost certainly.
but the storm is past them now.

My cousin who is there said no major damage in their neighborhood. Lots of wind & rain, some tree damage.

Aiming right for those condo's in South Daytona Shores....
(And here I was, worried about the stupid hurricane coming FROM the ocean!)

Thank you so much -- been watchin' this thread on and off and prayin' for all of you in the storm's pathway. Very glad to see your posts and pics!
I am sure they are ok, but I don't want to clog up needed phone line capacity cause I'm being a nervous ninny. They probably evacuated anyways.
And I'm in Washington DC, so any local FL news is good to know!

Eeeesh--Outer Banks likely for Charley. TS Danielle is born.

You know, with so many millions of cell phones outthere, the "phone lines down" problem is mitigated from previous storms!
