I didnt think Radio Shack had walkie talkies anymore....unless they are Family Radio Service....

You know Karl, I think that is what the reporters are referring to -- the Family Rado Service.

We have those, but our family calls them walkie-talkies vs. cell phones.

Radio Shack, Walmart, Target and others carry FRS and GMRS radios. I grabbed a pair of GMRS radios on a blowout sale at Walmart. Rated for 7 mile range. The pair cost me $20. The FCC will hit you for $75 for a legitimate GMRS license.

My guess is the thieves were looking for an easy target for GPS and radios. Radio Shack often has only a single, unarmed clerk on duty. The thieves are probably preparing for some operation with resources dead dropped at locations that can be reliably located with a GPS.
