Cindy, I just got my tech license for HAM and was able to be a part of the the 2 meter Echolink operations of hurricane Charley. It is quite the experience to hear real-time activities from states away, and to be able to reach out to people in need. Everyone should at least get their Tech. license. I eventually will go for the General license.

Welcome to the world of emergency communications. Sounds like you've had a positive experience participating in Charely. Yet another great hobby that is maintains a nice balance of entertainment and utility.
