Credit: The Cabal The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger. "Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix." We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research. With the nation on high alert for al-Qaida terrorists, the Department of Homeland Security is putting its border officers through "etiquette" classes to soften their image and make them less threatening to arriving foreign immigrants, WorldNetDaily has learned. |

The problem as I see it is that NK has been labelled by GW as part of the "Axis of Evil" in that war. One of scenarios that makes sense to me is that it would be extremely desireable to move the troops out of the area if you were planning to turn the target area into a peninsula of glass. We've been worried that the NK's would get the weapons of mass destruction they crave, but have been somewhat soothed by their lack of a suitable delivery vehicle to reach our coastline. But if they have the nukes or are very close to getting them then a strike against our troops or the whole south of the country becomes much more credible. IOW, they don't need a huge ICBM to deliver the device just a few hundred miles. That's what is behind this sudden realignment IMHO.
I heard this on the radio at the top of the news hour and a red flag went up immediately. They said we're pulling troops out of Germany and SK. Your scenario sounds like a real possibility.
Something is amiss with this report. Is the day or time wrong?
Today is Sunday -- I am in Arlington, and it is not "shortly before 6 PM." Indeed, no way could this person have been handed to the FBI, questioned and released, bt "10 PM."
It is only 2:39 PM now. I know, I am in Arlington!
I think the story was written today but the events actually happened yesterday.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Computers used by Purdue University police and airport were inoperable for a time after someone cut the underground fiber optic cables that carry data to the systems, police said.
Intruders entered the utility tunnels through a sidewalk grate, police said.
The damage was done early Saturday when someone used bolt cutters to sever several large fiber optic cables that lead to campus computers and coaxial cables connected to university residence hall cable systems, said Purdue University Deputy Police Chief Steven Dietrich.
The damage to the cables stalled computer service to the police department dispatch system and the Purdue University Airport records system, along with other campus buildings. Dietrich said it is hard to say how much data was lost at the police department.
Workers were able to restore service to all buildings within 24 hours.
Dietrich estimated damage at $500 to $1,000.
"We're not sure if it was one, two or 10 (vandals)," Dietrich said. "They're a dangerous place to be in -- the steam tunnels. There's a great deal of potential harm."

Positive if you consider that just maybe our gov't has gotten their collective heads out of their A$$es and decided that indeed the only way to really stop AQ in our country is to close the borders by military force. The guys from Korea will be especially well trained in those ops because that was their main duty: To patrol the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) under live fire conditions. At night the DMZ becomes a "free fire" zone and anybody may be taken under fire without warning. It happens all the time. In the 1980's a bunch of my buddies ran extremely successful ambush ops over there.
No updates since Friday that I know of.

Re lax security at Olympics: I heard on the radio that they caught some Iraqis and Pakis trying to sneak across the Greek border.
I read that and saw "Men Biologically Designed to be Shellfish."

Bush shifting U.S. troops out of Europe, Asia
Major redeployment of up to 100,000 GIs due to war on terror
Mike Allen, Tom Ricks, Washington Post
Sunday, August 15, 2004
Washington -- President Bush will announce Monday that he plans to pull 70,000 to 100,000 troops out of Europe and Asia in the first major reconfiguration of overseas military deployments by the United States since the Cold War ended, according to White House officials.
Bush, who will reveal the changes in a speech to the annual convention of the 2.6 million-member Veterans of Foreign Wars in Cincinnati, will say the change is necessary to adapt the nation's military to the demands of the global war on terrorism and to take advantage of new technologies, said a senior aide involved in developing the plan.
Two-thirds of the reduction will come from Europe, most of them Army soldiers in Germany, and most of the troops will be reassigned to bases in the United States, the aide said. Officials said exact details of the moves have not been finalized, but some of the troops from Germany and South Korea will be moved to expansion countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in Eastern Europe......

Great news! I bet this will be a shining hour for FEMA and the POTUS. Time to show off all the improvements to relief effort organization since 9/11. Let's just hope we don't get tested with another biggy next weekend.
