"I believe in my heart of hearts and in my gut that this president fails that test in Iraq. And I know this because I, personally, and others were deeply involved in the effort with other countries to bring them to the table. I met with the Security Council of the United Nations in the week preceding the vote in the Senate."

Of course the US Ambassador to the United Nations and Secretary of State usually negotiate on behalf of the United States in the Security Council. Kerry was actually bragging he (supposedly) met with other nations on the council, opposed to US interests, trying to bring the Bush Administration to the table ?!?!

This is treason.
He is representing the US in a capacity he doesn't hold.
In other words, Senaotre, you were acting above your pay grade.

If this were true, it would be right in character. He met with the North Vietnamese leadership while honeymooning in Paris in 1971, and was still a member of the Navy.
On the other hand, it would also be in character for him to have lied about this.

If I were a powerful liberal Democrat politician, the only thing I would meet with the UN about is to ask where's my cut of the Oil For Food Program dollars. Supporting those UN weasels at all costs has it's price. And to suggest I need huge campaign contributions.

This is a great catch. I hope the RNC is well aware of this statement and is investigating it.
Seems to me Kerry is now damned if he did and damned if he didn't. If he didn't, he's caught in a flat-out lie, one that he can't easily excuse away. If he did, then he was WAY overreaching his legitimate powers, and trying to deal with the U.N. in a manner that might well have compromised our negotiations with other countries.
What an absolute moron this man is. I just hope somebody makes a BIG issue of this.

If so, he was trespassing on turf reserved exclusively for the Executive Branch. But then, when did Kerry ever give a rat's ass about the Constitution?

Trying to read some of that CNN transcript, I concluded: Kerry can take the simple and make it convoluted.
One of many examples of the convoluted Kerry-speak:
Kerry: I think we have to recognize that the Native American community, which has not been recognized, has as much desire, has as much interest and is as prepared and is as capable and always has protected America with as much zeal as any other community, and we ought to trust it and provide the funding necessary as a separate jurisdiction where that coordination is not absolutely necessary.
Huh???? What is that supposed to mean?

"I met with the Security Council of the United Nations in the week preceding the vote in the Senate." Hmmmm, I wonder what Colin Powell will have to say about that.

Wasn't it reported that Kerry said he didn't report the intell report before voting?
