Fox News | 08/06/04 | awestruck

I just saw Shep Smith on Fox, talking about the Swift Vets, and saying "hardly any of these guys actually served with Kerry, I mean they were in the same war..." He also has "experts" on the pro-Kerry side and no one on the other side...what's going on with Fox on this issue???

I agree.

And since that O'Reilly character loves boycotts so much, I say boycott HIM until he apologises to the Swift Boat Vets.

Fox has gone over to the other side. Just heard their bottom of the hour radio newscast: "Disappointing job news,""Kerry has a new plan to create energy from thin air.." Blah blah liberal blah... It's time to boycott these people folks.

I only flew single seat fighters; however, I flew with a lot of guys! We were even in the same squadron most of the time. Believe me, I didn't need to be in the same fighter to know whether or not they had good hands. Pre-flight briefings and debriefings give a pilot a lot of information about their fellow fighter pilots.

I am sure that these Navy Swift Vets briefed and debriefed their missions and knew exactly what they were dealing with in other Swift boat commanders.

I get so perturbed at these reporters/anchors that know absolutely nothing about how the military works in either war time or peace time. They set themselves up as experts, and unfortunately, most people don't know they are being given false information.

These boats operated in packs from what I am hearing. So though not always on the same boat, they could be within a stones throw quite often

If I recall correctly .. in that Convention Movie Kerry aired .. there were Several Boats in the River with him

I guess they didn't serve with Kerry too huh??

I called Shep Smith a "news reader" in my email to him.

Hope it really snorks him off.

I sent my email to Roger Ailes and CC:'d Shep.

Dear Mr. Ailes;

I have to say that recently I and a large number of conservatives that I communicate with on the grass-roots forums are starting to get fed up with this recent departure from the "Fair and Balanced" approach. Last night when Bill O'Rielly decided to have Dick Morris on and have a Veteran-bashing spree without once taking a "no-spin" stand, I thought to myself that it was just Bill "Bloviating". However today with Shep Smith coming out and denouncing the Swift Vets for Truth as liars without providing any evidence to back it up, it has truely highlighted what we see as a growing left-ward trend. I understand that you're under pressure from the mainstream media, but I have to say that you are about to lose a huge chunk of your base.

Give these Veterans the chances to show their ad and dig get the truth out there. It is not going to be possible to bury this story, so trying to do so will be utterly ineffectual and result only in you losing your loyal viewers. If you start to report just the same way as the rest of the media, then we frankly have no use for your channel anymore. Just look at what happened when the base got motivated and abandoned CNN -- you're company is marching right into the same trap.

If you're concerned about your channels ratings and objectivity, it would be advisable that you take a look at the reactions that are taking place on www.freerepublic.com. A large percentage of your loyal base are growing close to the point of boycott, and remember, we can get our news online, so we only watch FOX News Channel because it is entertaining, balanced and convenient. You might want to check this thread in particular:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1186519/posts

I strongly urge you to review your policy and stop caving to the left's incoherent charges and get back to your roots. We are your core supporters. We are the ones that spent extra for extended cable service so that we could support your channel, and we are the ones that earn you your advertising revenue through our viewership. You're losing us. So far we haven't advocated a formal boycott, but it is getting very close to that point.

Best Regards,

"If anyone has gone en-mass with a group of motorcylces would understand the concept. If someone goes down, people "see" it without having to crash."

I put the following question to a leftist ninny on another forum last night. He was riding the "they weren't in his boat" wave.

Do you ignore an eyewitness to an automobile accident because they weren't in the car? Do you ignore a witness to a murder because they weren't the one killed?

He couldn't answer and left the forum.

I hate to say it but it seems accurate to me, I don't see any brilliant journalistic mind there, he really couldn't even shine Britt's shoes.

I switched to baseball, and that was hard on account of my grudge over the 1995 players strike.

Just think of news media as entertainment and entertainers. That is pretty close to the reality of it.

Why is ok for Kerry to use them in campaign ads

But these Vets are not allowed to speak up for themselves

If I recall correctly .. these Vets did send a letter to Kerry aksing him to stop using the Photo

You do recall correctly. Perhaps someone needs to send Fox News the picture?

Do you know where Kerry slept at night? He actually lived with the other officers on another boat. They got into the swift boats to do missions. After missions they would get togehter and decompress...talk about the missions and fill out reports.

They WERE with Kerry. They are his peers. Kerry could not hang with the guys on his boat who he commanded, he would hang with these guys. Fraternazation with your subordinates is not allowed!

"hardly any of these guys actually served with Kerry,

The same lack-o-logic was used by that Dingbat Susan Estretch on Hannity's show last night. She kept berating the Swift Boat guest (who had served in the same boat group) for not having been on Kerry's boat. Do you think the poor dimwitted Estretch even had a clue about the size of these boats? Then she got all smug when the dumbass ex-Green Beret that Kerry helped out of the river said he had "served" on the boat with Kerry. I wonder how many more of these Army SF vets think they served on riverine boats? Oh yeah...I forgot about Martin Sheen. I heard that he is trying to get a Purple Heart now for injuries suffered while serving on a PBR during the shooting of Apocalypse Now.
