I haven't watched Leno in years, and it is my personal opinion that the industry punished him and The Tonight Show for seemingly boosting Arnold Schwarzengger by giving the show ZERO nominations. I can't for the life of me remember the last time a show that won its time slot in a walk being snubbed like that.

Letterman, whom I do watch, is becoming just as intolerable. I didn't watch when Bill Clinton was on the show last week -- I like my low blood pressure and my TV to much to risk either one. Your description of the Leno show fits Letterman like a glove as well, if not better; the slams on Kerry are about his horse-face, his touchiness with Edwards and, of course, Teresa (aka 'Ratwoman). The nightly bits about Bush's verbal stumblings are par for the course for a late-night funnyman (I've said it before -- Bush is the worst Presidential speaker in the history of recorded sound), but ever since the false CNN story about the White House allegedly accusing Letterman of doctoring a video clip of Bush, the punch lines have been about how stupid Bush is, mischaracterizing Bush Admin statements about WMDs, and suggesting that oil was the motivation for war in Iraq. It seems that Letterman refuses to believe that the CNN's retraction was genuine, and somehow, the White House called him a liar.
