I am also pretty darn sure the Swift Boat Vets for Truth have had long and consequence-laden discussions with a battery of attorneys, excellent legal minds, about what they would be facing if they stepped into the limelight to expose the slime. IMO, they are acting with equal, though a different form of, courage compared with 'nam.

John O'Neill, a former Swiftboat commander an founder of this organization, IS himself a lawyer.

You are right. O'Neil is a lawyer and probably a very good one. This is probably the reason they used Edward's voice and the invitation he issued at the convention to talk to people that served with Kerry.

True, but in reality in something as potentially big as this, you retain expert outside counsel in this sort of thing, before you even start the book.
