Swift Boat Veterans For Truth Responds To Senator McCain
Thu Aug 05 2004 17:10:20 ET
"Swift Boat Veterans for Truth has more than 250 members, many of whom were wounded or highly decorated in Vietnam.
We purchased with our blood and service the right to be heard, to set the record straight about our unit, and to tell the truth about John Kerry's military service record.
We respect Senator McCain's right to express his opinion and we hope he extends to us the same respect and courtesy, particularly since we served with John Kerry, we knew him well and Senator McCain did not."
Rear Admiral Roy Hoffmann (ret.), Founder and Chairman of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.
We knew him, we served with him, you didn't!
In other words: Shut your FAT TRAP cause you don't know what you're talkin' about!!
Rush needs to be better informed to answer guys like this caller. The swift boat vets in the ad served with Kerry. They skippered their own PCFs, but the boats operated together in groups of at least three and they were within yards of one another. They lived and ate together.
Hoffman was Kerry's former Commanding officer, thanks for finding the text.
Yeah, and the seminar caller complains the swift boat vets give no evidence to support their claims against Kerry and dived RIGHT into the AWOL story. He does not believe the people who served WITH Kerry, yet is more than willing to take the word of John Kerry on the AWOL fiction completely at face value.
The only people supporting him are the guys who served under him. His fellow Swift boat skippers and his superiors know him just as well as the ones who were on his boat. There is one enlisted man (Steve(?) Gardner) who served under him and is adamantly against him. He's also part of the SWBfT group.
I just called and gave them my opinion. She took my address and said she would get back with me through correspondence.
You mean The Rush Limbaugh Show.
Thats like guy A drives HUM-V ONE around like an idiot, those in HUM-V TWO think guy A is a moron and isnt fit to be president for his wrecklessness.
Then critics say those in HUM-V TWO "dont know him, they werent in his HUM-V"...
*sigh*
Rush brought down FreeRepublic for several hours one day, by cracking up laughing, on-air, at one of Paul Atreides' photo parodies. We have a lot of bandwidth, but not enough to withstand a sizeable portion of Rush's audience all trying to get here at once.
If no one can get on the site right now, that's great. It means a hell of a lot of people are terribly curious about it.
That is an absolutely EXCELLENT reply. Classy and succinct.
" I just heard Rush read the official response to John McCain from Adm. Hoffman, representing the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth. Hoffman said the swiftboat veterans earned, with their blood and their service, the right to speak the truth about their own unit. He said they knew Kerry well, and McCain did not.
I hope you can find a transcript of their official response. It was devastating."
Agreed.
They spanked McCain, but, respectfully.
I think the WH should not denounce this ad.
They can take a hands off aproach-the WH did not denounce or comment on Kerry's vets-they should take the same approach with this group.
Seems the Swift site is down due to getting too many hits from Rush

I remember it well......
Can you please give me a little background on this? What occurred between the Swift Boat Veterans and John McCain that merited that sort of response?
That's the only defense I've been able to find in the DUmpster and you're right, it just doesn't hold water.
