Obama, OTOH, was a state legislator in Illinois. So, he has a record in Illinois to run on. You sure are quick to defend the Democrat. What ever happened to Reagan's 11th Commandment that you were so quick to bring up when Keyes debated Bush?
Crickets....

Illinois can be beautiful this time of year into Fall...after the election is about the right time to be leaving. And so it's off to the sound of canons...

Whereas, a Senator represents a specific state and it is reasonable to have the expectation that he/she has an intimate relationship with that state. Totally reasonable, but that is not in the law of the state of Illinios. Illinois has a very liberal residency law.

What are the demographics of Illinois? Are the rural people solidly Conservative? I know Chicago has many blacks but are there some Conservative or at least anti-abortion blacks there? How liberal or conservative are the whites in Chicago?

Incumbents get paid to campaign out of our tax dollars, while challengers most often ... quit their jobs in order to run. Under your guidelines, only the self employed and/or independently wealthy can run. Those were my exact thoughts. Who can afford to simply take off a year or two to run for an office which they have little chance to win from an incumbent.
Taking $96,000 from a campaign fund is NOT that big a deal if it is simply to pay ones bills, electric, water, etc.
That said, I have watched the corrupt Democrats coronate Lautenberg in NJ, Hillary in NY, and what's her name in Missouri after her husband died.
I am sick and tired of playing behind the eight ball which has unfortunately been placed on the pool table by the infamous Donkey party.
All I can say is GO KEYES. Where do I send my $20.

Look, I'm a BushBot; don't try to say it's not so, I've seen you allude to me as being one.
Keyes can do whatever he wants, but he can do it without smearing another Republican.

My apologies .... I haven't read this thread all the way thru ...
Barack Obama will be the next Senator from IL. NOT Alan Keyes.
Sorry ....
To: outlawcam
Please. You're spending way too much time and energy to convince me I'm wrong.
So I am sure I'm right.

As far as I know, Dr. Keyes does not live, and never lived in Illinois. So what gives....I guess residency rules are out the window? and anybody can run anywhere they are needed. Krap...as much as I admire and respect Dr. Keyes, I don't think I like him running in Illinois any more than I liked Hillary running in New York.
Maybe I am wrong about this...as I frequently am about other things....but just damn!
Somebody please explain how Alan Keyes gets to run for the Senate from Illinois when he lives somewhere around D.C.????
Hillary carpetbagged..... KEYES WAS DRAFTED. All he has to do is move.

Look, I know you guys may not like Keyes or Keyes supporters that much, but please consider putting aside our differences for this one.
Think about it: Even if Keyes loses, he is sure to excite many Christian/Catholic voters and get them to the polls. This has repercussions for President Bush. I doubt Keyes will energize the enemy as much as Bush evangelicals and Catholics.
We need to hang together on this and hope that Keyes accepts.
