The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

I really tussled with posting it. As I said, suitcase nukes sounds like "the bogey man", but I felt it was appropriate to weigh in.

Is there a possibility that a rumor takes on a life of its own? ABSOLUTELY. That's why I don't have a strong enough inclination to believe the suitcase nukes theory.

Like I said, take it with a grain of salt (but don't forget to chew).

That's what I took away from it. I think it's significant that the politicos are taking the possibility seriously. I'll reiterate, though, that does not lend any creedance to their beliefs. This is second-hand info from sources I don't have a clue about...sigh

Not necessarly, it depends upon what kind of comms set up they had. Being sought after, it wouldn't be unforseen that individuals would be off the net, so to say, for various reasons. Secondly, Khan was not the 'hub' of the comms, so that other links would still operate in blissful ignorance of his capture, thus providing invaluable intel.

I did see the pic. I don't see a resemblance to the drawing.

One thing I noticed on that drawing is that the airplane is quite detailed. I'm assuming since the plane is that detailed that the building should be a pretty good facsimile of the target. Then, I wonder if either mile is in the name....or perhaps the distance between those two towers is a mile??? If the distance is a mile, then perhaps an airport? (Sheesh, it could be anything)

Bomblike Devices Found On Southwest Side
Devices Resemble Pipe Bombs

CHICAGO -- Several devices, resembling pipe bombs, were found Friday on the southwest side.

The devices resembling pipe bombs were found on the 7700 block of South Kenton Avenue around 7:40 a.m. when police responded to a 911 call of a bomb threat, according to a Chicago Lawn District police sergeant.

He had no further information and could not say whether the devices were actually pipe bombs.

Fire Cmdr. Will Knight said firefighters were sent to the scene in response to the report of possible pipe bombs being found.

Sgt. Roger Elmer said that Bomb and Arson Unit officers were also sent to the scene, but he could not confirm if the devices were real pipe bombs.

News Affairs Deputy Director Pat Camden said he could not immediately verify the bomb threat as bona fide "because he was not at the scene."
