To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger. Just heard on the local ABC morning news: A cargo ship is being held offshore in NJ. Ship's cargo was emitting a hazardous odor. That's all for now - On my way out, will check for a follow-up when I get to the city.

Suspicious Package Closes Rainbow Bridge (Niagara Falls - Between U.S. and Canada - August 6, 2004)
Friday, August 6, 2004 - Page A6 Niagara Falls, Ont. -- The Rainbow Bridge was closed for about three hours last night after a suspicious package was discovered.
Customs officers noticed the shoebox-sized package in the bus clearance lane on the major border crossing shortly after 7 p.m.
The Canada Border Services Agency asked the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission to shut down the bridge, commission spokesman Brent Gallaugher said.
The Niagara Regional Police Emergency Response Unit was called in and a robot was used to destroy the package at about 9:30. The bridge was reopened about 30 minutes later. Officials would not comment on what was inside the package.
Tanker Tragedy Averted (New York - August 6, 2004)
By Jonathan Ment , Freeman staff 08/06/2004 ACCORD - When a beer bottle is thrown at the windshield of a tractor-trailer hauling 12,000 gallons of gasoline, the possibilities are frightening. Add a second bottle, thrown at a second tanker truck with another 12,000 gallons of fuel, and the danger is at least doubled.
That's what happened about 9:45 p.m. last Friday on U.S. Route 209.
The trucks were heading south in Accord, and the bottles may have been thrown from a moving vehicle headed northbound, the trucking company's owner says.
SJR Trucking Inc. is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the potentially catastrophic incident.
"I can't believe he didn't wreck the truck," Sherry Ralph, owner of SJR, said of the driver, her husband Tim. Tim Ralph was showered with glass from the windshield and the bottle and suffered minor injuries, his wife said.
A second SJR driver was following behind in another tanker, and the bottle thrown at that rig struck the wind visor and cracked the windshield but did not break through, Mrs. Ralph said. She said the second driver was shaken up but nor injured.
"It was definitely Budweiser, because the label was stuck to the hood," Mrs. Ralph said of the thrown bottle. Mrs. Ralph said she was surprised the first windshield cost just $200 to replace. But it took five hours to clean the cab of the truck because the bottle apparently was full, she said, adding that beer and glass were everywhere.
Mrs. Ralph said Ulster County sheriff's deputies took all the pieces they thought they could lift fingerprints from. Sheriff's Detective Debra Montgomery said pieces of the beer bottle will be sent to the state police laboratory for fingerprinting and that the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Ulster County Sheriff's Office at (845) 338 3640.
Well then, can we have your liver?
Galaxy song
Whenever life gets you down, Mrs. Brown,
And things seem hard or tough,
And people are stupid, obnoxious or daft,
And you feel that you've had quite enough...Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour.
It's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned,
The sun that is the source of all our power.
Now the sun, and you and me, and all the stars that we can see,
Are moving at a million miles a day,
In the outer spiral arm, at forty thousand miles an hour,
Of a galaxy we call the Milky Way.Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars;
It's a hundred thousand light-years side to side;
It bulges in the middle sixteen thousand light-years thick,
But out by us it's just three thousand light-years wide.
We're thirty thousand light-years from Galactic Central Point,
We go 'round every two hundred million years;
And our galaxy itself is one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe.Our universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding,
In all of the directions it can whiz;
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know,
Twelve million miles a minute and that's the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth;
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere out in space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth!
Outer Loop Shuts Down After Lumber Accident
Updated: Friday, Aug. 6, 2004 - 6:44 AM
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer talks about the accident.
WASHINGTON - The Outer Loop of the Capital Beltway will be closed for an extended period of time after a tractor trailer carrying lumber and supply wood overturned and landed on a car Friday morning.
"Unfortunately, the tractor trailer did land on top of a passenger vehicle. We did have several people trapped. One person has been confirmed as a fatality," Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer tells WTOP.
Speed may have contributed to the 5 a.m. accident, Piringer said.

Suspicious Activity in Scranton
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version
IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION PLEASE CALL SCRANTON POLICE AT (570) 348-4141
If you've run into two men asking questions about the Chamberlain plant in Scranton you're not alone. The plant makes shells for the military. Scranton police and the F.B.I. have information that two men were asking questions about the plant on Cedar Avenue and investigators want to know why.
The Chamberlain Manufacturing Corporation makes ammunition shells. Last year the plant was working on a $22 million contract for the government, making 25,000 shells a month.
News that two men were in the city asking questions has police and the F.B.I on alert. "(We've) been more vigilant since 911 regarding any kind of potential target or places of vulnerability or interest of terrorist interest within our city," said Scranton Public Safety Director Ray Hayes. Chamberlain meets that requirement. So Scranton police are circulating a flyer with computer-generated pictures created by descriptions given to investigators.
They're said to be of middle eastern descent and traveling in a green sport utility vehicle without license plates. One may have a British accent.
"(We're) not saying anyone's done anything wrong. It's we're trying to gather intelligence information on individuals, seen in the area of Chamberlain Manufacturing plant," added Hayes.
Chamberlain is aware of the interest in these men and the company said police have paid special attention to the area around the plant in the last few days.
I thought the guy looked familiar.

Not exactly a double bow, but a bowed shape nontheless.
My first thought is that someone forgot to punctuate the phrase, which was supposed to read "orange, high" or "orange, which means 'high'." My second thought is that that the FBI/DHS finally realized that if NYC is orange all the time, then how do you raise the level without going all the way to red? The simple solution is to insert a subcatagory of "orange high" or "orange plus."
