'Believe' tour off to a bumpy start Kerry's 21-state trip gets a mixed reception during its first day out

SCRANTON, PA. - The Democratic presidential ticket of John Kerry and John Edwards worked Friday to spread the energy, beginning a national bus tour hours after the Boston convention.
Kerry, whose convention speech emphasized national security and foreign policy, said in an interview with The Associated Press that he would put Osama bin Laden on trial in U.S. courts.
That would ensure the "fastest, surest route" to a murder conviction if the terrorist mastermind is captured while he is president, Kerry said.
"I want him tried for murder in New York City, and in Virginia and in Pennsylvania," where planes hijacked by al-Qaida operatives crashed Sept. 11, 2001, he said.
His "Believe in America" road tour got off to a bumpy start Friday.
A sparse crowd showed up at a morning rally in Boston to begin the 21-state tour. On board were the Kerry family, the Edwards family and an entourage.
Kerry admitted he was dragging. "I am longing to have my head hit a pillow," he said.
Highways were blocked from Boston to Scranton as the campaign's 10 buses and support vehicles lumbered westward.
In Newburg, N.Y., they made an unscheduled stop to celebrate John and Elizabeth Edwards' 27th anniversary.
The couple observed their anniversary tradition of a meal at Wendy's, a nod to their early married days when it was all they could afford.
Kerry joined them inside and spied a table of Marines. But when he struck up a conversation, the Marines answered tersely and expressed irritation.
"He imposed on us and I disagree with him coming over here to shake our hands," said one, who did not give his name.
Later, at a stop in Harrisburg, Pa., Edwards turned his sights on Bush, who had criticized Kerry. "Today, the president went out and spoke for the first time since John spoke (at the convention), and here we go again," Edwards said. "The same old thing, relentless negative attacks on John Kerry.
"They are trying to take this campaign for the highest office in the land down the lowest possible road."

Are we all sure this isn't the menage a trois with ERICA tour?
"In Newburgh, N.Y., they made an unscheduled stop to celebrate John and Elizabeth Edwards' 27th anniversary."
Unscheduled stop? Bull, this was planned ahead of time!
"No details--they'll come after the election. No specifics-Kerry's been too busy."
KINDA LIKE WHEN HE DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO REVIEW THE TERROR THREAT ASSESSMENT JUST A COUPLE WEEKS AGO.
LooooooseR!!!!!
It was the Edwards' Anniversary.
"Didn't he have his whole prostrate cut out last year?"
PROSTATE
Were talking bin Laden here, not
Saddam Hussein.
sKerry went on to say that VP Edwards would be appointed trial lawyer in the resulting class action suit against OBL.
"Believe in America? I thought it was "America can do Better"
No...now...wait...a...minute, their slogan is 'A Stronger America', right?
*scratches head*
We never hear the media portray him as unhealthy, unlike with Cheney.
I firmly believe that John Kerry could not survive four years of being president. Too much stress after a long life of ease would do him in.
What else do you expect from a ticket with a thieving plaintiff's lawyer on it?
Bingo, he says he now supportes the DP for terrorist who kill Americans. BUT if he imposes a moratorium on the federal DP how will he be able to use it? FENCE STRADDLING.
Stay safe !
It's also a potential equal protection problem as well given that there is a lot of sentiment in the federal courts to make foreign terrorists be subject to the same laws and procedures as citizens. If there is a federal moratorium on the DP for nonterrorists, it stands to reason that this would be unjust and unconstitutional.
Naturally, the mediots will not ask al Qerry about it.
It floored me when his crook of a brother said on the film that hanoi john prosecuted WHITE COLLAR crime. I called his HQ and asked about his stance on the DP. His underling that answered the phone said Sen kerry as a prosecutor put away criminals for life.......white collar criminals may get a few years but they sure don't get LIFE. He gave me the impression that the criminals hanoi john put away were violent criminals.
This is a very sore issue with me as I am the mom of a murdered child, whose killer is now free to walk the streets because liberal do gooders can't be bothered to build more prisons or execute them in a reasonable time frame. My son's killer got 20 years in a plea bargain, I had to fight 6 parole hearings to get 14.5 years of that sentence.
Didn't he have prostate cancer last year???
Kerry's thinking on capital punishment ought to make anyone who is firmly against CP mistrust him. He is literally taking both stances at the same time. It's even worse than the Toon executing the retarded killer since at least Bill never said he was against capital punishment.
If I am not mistaken, NEW YORK state DOES NOT HAVE A DEATH PENALTY!!!
If I am wrong, tell me. I would imagine, however, it would be a federal case which means lethal injection, how boring. I don't want to just put him to sleep like a stray dog. bin laden must endure pain during his final hours, errr minutes. I would rather some crafty Sgt. take on the honor of introducing OBL to Allah, errr Satan. The 72 virgins are transvestites.
tru peace...D
NY does have the death penalty, BUT the activist black robes had declared it UNCONSTITUTIONAL.
