Yes, indeedie, I did! She is something. When she comes before the crowds, she acts as if they are her subjects. The hands over her chest, the blowing kisses. Good grief.

Maybe they could give the unreleased balloons to those homeless in the street they talked about.

I am trying. I have been searching for jobs in Wyoming, Montana and even Idaho to get out of this slime pit. I am going to need massive Prozac to keep from going nuts here.

Tired and somewhat hungover, but here

LOL! What...were you playing the Kerry speech "drinking game" last night? You should have passed out in the first 10 minutes just on the word "Vietnam"!

Flex time is one of the perks of a lot of government workers. I think that when the overtime rules were changed this year causing all kinds of uproar in the dem camp, some of the concerns could be addressed by labor laws allowing for more flextime in non-governmental workplaces.

This is one of the areas where it is not a question of gov. getting involved. Gov. IS involved heavily in labor legislation, and W may be proposing something very helpful. I am a supporter of flextime for families, as you might have guessed.

I want to see an ad with him speaking to the rescue workers standing on that pile of rubble.

They'll once again accuse him of politicizing 9/11 as that powerful vision is something they hope the public never remembers. Last night Kerry tried to diminish the symbolism of GWB landing on the aircraft carrier with "Mission Accomplished" in the background. Who can blame him when juxtaposed with his ridiculous NASA photo.

Well .. I don't agree! I think Bush is VERY ARTICULATE.

The difference is .. Bush is actually PLAIN SPOKEN. He doesn't talk in code or nuance .. he just says what he means and he means what he says .. WHAT'S INARTICULATE ABOUT THAT ..??

Merriam Webster says: able to speak; expressing oneself readily, clearly, or effectively.

I think Edwards, besides seeming callow, has not so much a southern accent, as a ... Hick from the Sticks accent.

%%%%

I totally agree with you. Most manly southern accents are pleasant - VMI Graduate accent for example.

Edwards' accent is irritating because it is so uncultured. Remember Chief Moose, anyone.

PS - About your tagline,

My husband was raised by elderly aunts during WWII, while his mother worked and his father fought, and he remembered so distinctly these aunts saying "Why are we fighting the Germans? France is the enemy." He always thought that they were stuck in a Wellington/Napoleon time warp, but it is obvious that there were reasons for their confusion.

Excuse me .. then why do you stay there ?? Get your resume updated and put it out on the internet. You might get some wonderful offers and a better place to work. What have you got to lose .. It's not like you quit and don't have an income. Most employers are well aware that you may need to interview at odd times. I've even had telephone interviews.

Hey! Why sit there and be miserable every day .. not worth it.

ar·tic·u·late
1 a : divided into syllables or words meaningfully arranged : INTELLIGIBLE b : able to speak c : expressing oneself readily, clearly, or effectively; also : expressed in this manner

glib
Etymology: probably modification of Low German glibberig slippery 1 a : marked by ease and informality : NONCHALANT b : showing little forethought or preparation : OFFHAND c : lacking depth and substance : SUPERFICIAL 2 archaic : SMOOTH, SLIPPERY 3 : marked by ease and fluency in speaking or writing often to the point of being insincere or deceitful

People want GLIB and W doesn't do GLIB. He does get his message across better than any Dem who always has to lie about his true intentions.

I was making a comment to the constant chorus that Bush is articulate...not expressing what I feel about Bush's ability.

If you read all my posts on Bush's speech making, I happen to think Bush is a fantastic communicator.

I prefer plain spoken to glib. Personally, those people who don't think he can communicate want glib.

I was taking very small sips...but at the end there, when the members of the Band of Brothers ® Parade were being introduced, I had to chug just to keep up ;- )

IMO, Edwards is putting that accent on. Sometimes it's distinctly more....flavored than others. It's to make the commoners identify with the son of a mill manager...err..worker.

It does seem more drawly than other times, like Clinton, but it is annoying.

I lived in Canada for years and had to listen to the terrible accent of PM Chretien when he spoke in English. Then one day I heard him make comments at a meeting in Miami of some multinational group, OAS maybe. I thought the meeting was using a translator because his accent was almost 100% normal English!

I had to see his lips move that night on TV to believe it was truly his own voice.

What phonies they both are!

"What phonies they both are!"

I almost replied that to you until I saw it on the bottom of your post, LOL.

Speaking of phonies, it's also no surprise that Kerry admires Chirac so much. Phonies of a feather, flocking together.
