The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

I always thought August would be the best month for a WMD attack in the US due to prevailing weather conditions. It's interesting to see that August holds so much importance in certain circles.

Nearly everyone in Europe in on vacation in August. Nobody is "minding the store". Literally.

Terrorists 'missing'
25/07/2004 22:42 - (SA)

Madrid - Morocco, home to most of the suspects in the Madrid train bombings, has warned Spain it has lost track of about 400 suspected Islamic terrorists, a newspaper reported Sunday.

Moroccan authorities alerted Spanish anti-terrorism judge Baltasar Garzon during a meeting in Rabat, Morocco, in early July that some 600 Moroccans Muslims were known to have trained in Afghanistan in camps sponsored by Osama bin Laden, the daily El Pais said, quoting unidentified sources close to police and judicial officials.

But Morocco only had tabs on 200 of them. The whereabouts of the 400 others are unknown, El Pais said.

Spanish officials refused to comment on the report, but the newspaper story backs up statements Garzon made earlier this month to a Spanish parliamentary commission investigating the Madrid bombings.

He told the commission that Morocco was teeming with some 100 al-Qaida-linked cells capable of staging suicide attacks in Europe.

More than 50 people, mostly Moroccans, have been arrested and 16 remain in jail in connection with the train bombings that killed 191 people and injured some 2 000.

Garzon told the commission that many of the cells are in northern Morocco and contain members who speak perfect Spanish, allowing them to slip easily in and out of Spain _ just a short ferry ride across the Strait of Gibraltar.

He also said the groups raise money by dealing hashish, selling stolen cars and smuggling people into Spain.

El Pais reported on Sunday that Moroccan officials and Garzon also discussed greater anti-terrorism co-operation between Spain and Morocco and among North African countries, like Algeria, and European countries, like France and Italy.

Blow to Saudi as al-Qaeda chief evades net
By Mark Huband in London
Published: July 25 2004 19:15 | Last Updated: July 25 2004 19:15

Saudi Arabian security officials have intensified the hunt for al-Qaeda's chief operative in the kingdom after he evaded a police dragnet on Friday, hours after an amnesty for militants expired.

Saleh al-Awfi, a former prison guard who has led al-Qaeda's operations in the kingdom since its veteran chief Abdel-Aziz al-Muqrin was killed on June 20, is said by security officials to be in the capital, Riyadh.

Also, it is only a short distance from the Mexican border.

Short distance? The Post butts up against the Mexican border. You come over the mountain from Mexico and you are on the Post. You come over the hills in the Coronado National forrest and you've passed from Mexico to Arizona.

FrogDad has stopped illegals out at his place of work on the Post.

I have friends living South of town who have border patrol on their speed dial, sounds like a stupid joke, but it's true.

I've seen illegals walking along the main route toward the Post that borders the Posts East Range. They were inside the restricted area fence, actually on the Post.

The family of our Congress critter (Jim Kolbe) lives about 20 miles west of Sierra Vista. An abandoned backpack was found on his brothers ranch containing arabic language documents.

My mother lives about 12 miles north of Sierra Vista. She has seen lines of illegals walking north, some of whom were wearing turbans.

I could go on, but you get the idea. We ARE being invaded, welcome to Sierra Vista.

Yup. It was the combination of the Red Cross map and the recent posting of the poster splitting the U.S. that raised the hair on my neck. Those added to the new "target list" were a little too much to ignore. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks, flutters. Do you have a url for this? a text document?

Yes, the information is on FEMA’s website. It’s listed in PDF documents. The specific info I posted is under the heading “Technological & Man-Made Hazards” and sub-heading “National Security Emergencies …Terrorism; Chemical and biological weapons; Nuclear and radiological attack; Homeland security advisory system” near the bottom of the page.

Here is the link: FEMA

I'm not on vacation in August. I'll mind the store!

I assume you are in the U.K. from your screen name. The European vacation habit is very pronounced in France, Germany and Belgium.

I have more than enough frequent flyer miles for another nice vacation in Wales. Since the 9-11 incident, it is unlikely that I'll ever visit again. I have always wanted to make at least one visit to the National Eisteddfod. It will be held starting next Saturday through August 7th.

FYI. Thread 14 has been restored at JustPiper's request but I removed several (about 30) replies. Thread 14 has been locked and linked to this thread. I also added a link to 14 at the top of this thread.

Thanks JustPiper for trying to keep these threads going smoothly. We greatly appreciate it.
