i THINK your concerns are well founded.

However, all of us are going to have to walk our faith in such regards as such hazards are going to be on every corner, in every neighborhood.

It does depend to a large degree on where she is going to be and how she's going to do her 'missions' thing.

Relationship building and sharing is one thing.

Standing on some street corners handing out Christian tracts in some sections of Indonesia would be a very short exercise on the way to suicidal martyrdom for Christ. And, to some degree, it would be so, in any section of Indonesia depending on which Jihadi's were driving by with whatever tools for destruction.

And, blind, immature idealism is not automatically equal to Holy Spirit guidance and discernment. BUT NEITHER IS CAUTIOUS ELDERLY PROTECTIONISM.

I would strongly encourage her to stick close to the resident missionaries and pastors there and to obey their guidelines strictly. Of course, given that some of them are probably on some Jihadi's targeting list--that could be a mixed risk sort of option.

I suppose one MIGHT have RELATIVE degrees of safety putting thin, one page tracts in selected volumes in a public library.

But, LIFE is a risk. Life there as a Christian is a bigger risk.

But these days, life in NYC is a big risk.

If she is prayerful and truly led of God, then, it's His choice as to how God wants to spend her. If HE chooses to have her closer to Him in some tangible/existential sense--great for her--our loss. But HE is well able to protect her in the worst areas of Indonesia AS LONG AS SHE IS FOLLOWING HIS STILL SMALL VOICE RATHER CLOSELY AND DOING WHAT SHE CAN TO LIVE AND WALK IN HIS WILL.

On that score, sleeping in her bed in granny's house IF it were out of the will of God would be MORE dangerous.

And, certainly granny's fervent prayers will have a big impact on her ministry and safety.

imho, of course.

I have compiled Godzilla's recent summaries (July, 04) and added them to my server in order to keep it better organized for the time being:

Godzilla Summaries : July, 2004

Thanks Godzilla, for the time spent creating the summaries and for allowing me to compile them for everyone to browse easier.

I was planning on making a little TM section of my site for images and such as well, but I guess I will hold off on it since we will have threatmatrix.info as a dumpsite. I will continue to update compilations of Godzilla summaries for the time being and will pass out a link for August once we get a few summaries together for the month.

Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan claims Tashkent blasts

The Statement:

www.islamic-minbar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=338

DUBAI, July 30 (AFP):
The Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) Friday claimed responsibility for suicide bombings against the US and Israeli embassies, as well as Uzbekistan's prosecutor general's office in Tashkent, according to a statement posted on an Islamist website.

"A group of young Muslims from the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan carried out martyrdom operations today against the embassies of America and Israel and the office of the prosecutor general, which started a few days ago to try several brethren from the group," the statement said.

The claim was posted on (http://www.islamic-minbar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=338) but its authenticity could not be confirmed.

At least two people were killed and nine injured in Friday's attacks in the volatile Central Asian state.

The IMU is a radical group that aimed to establish an Islamic state in the Ferghana Valley, which straddles Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, and was driven to Afghanistan by the regime of Uzbek President Islam Karimov.

Most of the IMU was thought to have been decimated during the US campaign in Afghanistan following the September 11, 2001 attacks, and after the death of its charismatic leader Djuma Namangani, reportedly a close associate of Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden.

By the Border Patrol's own admission, it catches one alien in five, and admits that around 800,000 have slipped across... The local ranchers...strongly disagree ...contend the agency only nets one in 10, and estimate that in 2001 over 1.5 million unlawful immigrants have crossed into America in what the Border Patrol calls the Tucson Sector.

"...Yeah, it varies, but about one in every 10 that we catch, is from a country like Yemen or Egypt."

800,000/10 = 80,000 (minimum) non mexicans per year. And using the estimate that 1 in 10 mumslims are radical we are still at 8,000/year.

Of the radicals not all will be "trigger pullers." So, by the nature of unconventional warfare, some will be intell gatherers, and some will be logistics specialists. But working together they will be able to wreak a lot of havoc in this country!

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=519&ncid=718&e=3&u=/ap/20040731/ap_on_re_us/subway_explosion

NEW YORK - The former police officer who said he found a flaming backpack that exploded in a Times Square subway station was arrested Saturday in connection with the incident.

Joseph Rodriguez faces charges of arson, weapons possession and reckless endangerment, police said.

Patrolmen's Benevolent Association attorney Stuart London has said the officer denies he was responsible for the July 19 subway incident. London did not immediately return a call for comment Saturday.

Rodriguez, 27, was involved in rescue efforts following the terrorist attack on Sept. 11, 2001 and said he was traumatized by it, officials said.

At some point, the NYPD sought to remove Rodriguez from the force because of unspecified psychological problems. The officer resisted, but agreed to retire after being awarded a disability pension two weeks ago based on a claim that his problems stemmed from Sept. 11.

Rodriguez had worked a final shift at a transit station when the explosion occurred, leaving him with minor injuries, disrupting subway service and drawing a huge response by police on alert for terrorist attacks.

The officer later told police that he saw the blue and black nylon backpack on fire on a mezzanine staircase at 43rd Street and Eighth Avenue, and was warning commuters to stay away and calling for backup when it exploded. At first, investigators believed fireworks caused the blast, but they later found pieces of plastic pipe, traces of black powder and BB's — evidence of a pipe bomb.

Investigators soon focused on Rodriguez as a possible suspect based largely on his psychological history, sources have told The Associated Press. He also raised suspicion by wasting several minutes trying to report the bomb to his partner, rather than calling 911, they said.

Rodriguez was briefly hospitalized after the explosion. He was arrested Saturday at New York-Presbyterian Hospital's Columbia-Presbyterian Center.

Hardline threat to al-Aqsa Mosque
By Khalid Amayreh in the West Bank
Wednesday 28 July 2004, 0:08 Makka Time, 21:08 GMT

Al-Haram al-Sharif in Jerusalem is one of Islam's holiest sites

Israel's Public Security Minister Tzahi Hanegbi has said hardline Jewish groups may be planning to carry out attacks on the two most sacred Islamic shrines in occupied East Jerusalem.

Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock are collectively known as al-Haram al-Sharif (Noble Sanctuary). Originally built in CE711 (AD711), al-Aqsa Mosque is Islam's third holiest place, after the two Holy Mosques in Saudi Arabia.

Terrorism Crackdown Goes Beyond Sea-Tac Arrests
POSTED: 5:04 p.m. PDT August 14, 2003

KIRO 7 Eyewitness News has learned that two passengers arrested at Sea-Tac Airport last weekend may be linked to a suspect's deadly plunge from a high-rise balcony in Vancouver, British Columbia during a raid.

Federal sources both in British Columbia and in Seattle tell KIRO Team 7 Investigators the weekend arrest at Sea-Tac of two men on the terrorist "no-fly" list may be just the tip of the iceberg.

Man Arrested At Sea-Tac Had Been Detained Before Newspaper Reports Man First Detained Around 9/11

POSTED: 8:37 a.m. PDT August 14, 2003
UPDATED: 9:07 a.m. PDT August 14, 2003

SEATTLE -- One of two Pakistani men arrested at Sea-Tac Airport had been detained and released at an unnamed airport once before, The Seattle Times reported Thursday.

The newspaper said the arrest took place within a day of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Citing unnamed federal sources, The Times also said the CIA had investigated the man -- a 29-year-old with a New York driver's license -- as a possible terrorist.

Port of Seattle police detained two men Saturday night and turned them over to the FBI.

According to a Port of Seattle police report obtained by KIRO 7 Eyewitness News, a Pakistani national paid cash for his one-way ticket to New York. His name showed up on a federal "No-Fly" list.

Yes.

The woman intercepted in TX with the South African passport was on her way to NYC as part of this (according to ABC). Might have mentioned non-Arabs but not sure. Implied others were coming across the border to join them? I think I might have read yesterday that Ghailani had South African passports when they caught him in Pakistan a couple days ago. . .

Hope they can wrap them up in time.

But even if they do, it might be the "appetizer" not the "main course".
