Not sure how many are tuned into the Bill O'Reilly interview with Ex-Mayor Willie Brown. I've already posted earlier today about my problems with SF, that is being a business owner and struggling to do business in SF.
But, can you believe how Mr. Brown differentiates between the Clinton and Bush government? He says that the Bush administration has "failed on entitlements". Yet, O'Reilly indicates that overall spending towards education has doubled since the Clinton administration.
I want to know from FR if Mr. Brown is considered a legitimate spokesperson for the Afro-American community. Because, what he is basically saying is that he defines a successful administration as one that is essentially based on handouts. This from a man who is questionable at best in his handling of city funds and who made SF the homeless capital of the US.
Let's see Jimmie Brown, I mean Willie Carter..oh never mind.
I saw the interview and basically Brown said give us(Black People) more money.
Oh and even though he is over 70, he prefers white girlfriends under 30 - a new one every few weeks, last I saw. Wonder how that goes down among black female voters?
In a word - Treasure Island.
Willie Brown is a crook who should be in jail.
O'Blowhard treated ole Willie like an old drinking buddy, instead of the corrupt SOB that he is.
Loved Willie trying to say the the use of the term 'illegal alien" was inflammatory.
No spin zone indeed.
Doing business in San Francisco? You deserves one of John Kerry's medals. Did you know he served in Vietnam?
Legitimate spokeman?...I haven't a clue..powerful democrat,yes.
I was amused by the questioning because it was clear that there no excuse for beratiing the Bush administration over his"issues" yet his stunning claim of greater"hope" under Clinton as the excuse to back dems had me laughing...Willy would not worry about handouts being a legitimate goal..He is a politician...
I saw the interview. Oreilly made willie b look like an idiot. Of course, that is easy to do these days. However, willie b was quite a politician when he was speaker here in ca. He was damn good at getting his way, much to the dismay of repubs.
I disagree with BO on a lot of things, but he is till my favorite on Fox. He is pugnacious and ballsy most of the time. Sometimes he throws soffballs....I guess everyone needs a rest from time to time.
Amen, brother! Gathering those stats sounds like the perfect mission statement for SF-based (e.g. city funded) non-profit. Hmmm. Maybe I should convert our SF-based technology company? Thanks for your response.
The two are quickly melting into the same party from a financial standpoint and only differ in social areas and who gets control of the purse strings.
Brown was complaining about "delivery of programs", I see this as code for welfare and freebies are too hard to get.
They want "delivery" as a means of saying THEY are not controlling the great society programs.
IOW democrat party means more free stuff.
At about the time our original 13 states adopted their new constitution, in
the year 1787, Alexander Tyler (a Scottish history professor at The
University of Edinborough) had this to say about "The Fall of The Athenian
Republic" some 2,000 years prior: "A democracy is always temporary in
nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A
democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that
they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that
moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most
benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will
finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a
dictatorship."
"The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of
history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations
always progressed through the following sequence:
From Bondage to spiritual faith
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage."
Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul,
Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the most recent
Presidential election:
Population of counties won by:
Gore = 127 million
Bush = 143 million
Square miles of land won by:
Gore = 580,000
Bush = 2,2427,000
States won by:
Gore = 19
Bush = 29
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
Gore = 13.2
Bush = 2.1
Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Bush won was
mostly the land owned by the tax-paying citizens of this great country.
Gore's territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in
government-owned tenements and living off government welfare..."
Olson believes the U.S. is now somewhere between the "complacency and
"apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy; with some 40
percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental
dependency" phase.
You nailed it.
I hope if there are any black conservatives out there that they call Bill and ask to be on the show with some facts to back up the truth and out the lies of Mr. Brown.
For example, IIRC, according the National Home Builders Association (thanks to Bush's tax breaks) a record number of minorities (mainly blacks) have become first time home owners under Bush's watch. I think the number is over 1.5 million (www.nahb.org)
And O'Reilly blew the interview; if Brown "gave the money away" ($835k) as he said, he would have had receipts if he did it legally. Why didn't Bill ask him that?
He was blowing smoke. He gave no specifics, only generalities and was touting the Democratic party line; lies and false accusations.
Also he said not to call illegal aliens by that name because it will offend them, but that something like Michael Moores movie is not offensive, at least to him, he said.
Should be a real ratings-grabber for them. [/sarcasm]
BWAHAHAHA
Brown the DNC poster child for MSNBC!! I Love it!! LOL!!!
