Cynthia McKinney (D) is headed back to Congress after the controversial five-term ex-lawmaker won a plurality in Georgia's 4th district primary Tuesday, avoiding what had been widely considered an all but inevitable runoff.
there are always ways of exerting pressure on politicians, ranging from letters to... photographing them abed with Mme. Chiang Kai Chek, to... other methods.
If enough voters exert their choice of pressure, the eggs shall crack.
Can you give me some context for your tagline? Mexican War?
The quote is from the hero of the battle of Resaca de la Palma during the Mexican War just prior to a cavalry charge into the Mexican artillery.
Being an old cavalryman myself I think it is very apropos to todays times.
Here's another quote from the official report written by General Taylor after the battle.
"The action now became general; and although the enemy's infantry gave way before the steady fire and resistless progress of our own, yet his artillery was still in position to check our advance, several pieces occupying the pass across the ravine which he had chosen for his position. Perceiving that no decisive advantage could be gained until this artillery was silenced, I ordered Captain May to charge the batteries with his squadron of dragoons. This was gallantly and effectually executed. The enemy was driven from his guns, and General La Vega, who remained alone at one of the batteries, was taken prisoner."
I don't see the dims playing a part in this at all. A huge amount of Republicans (can't remember the exact data) crossed over to oust her 2 years ago.
I'm calling on a couple of "those in the know" (FP and Guillermo) to help me with statistics.
Even though they constituted a minority of the voters in that primary-and as a percentage were statistically speaking, less than Majette's margin of victory in that election-they still had a huge impact on the Majette-McKinney match-up.
The proof of that is that her lawyers were contemplating a lawsuit to change GA election law, once she had been defeated.
That was a real joke since it was the dims that had the rule enacted eons ago when it supported their agenda. The first time it blew up in their faces they were running around like the spoiled children that they are crying, "FOUL!"
Typical hypocrisy, courtesy of Jim Murphy-thank goodness he's finally gotten the boot-and the other good ol' boys from the Dem. machine.
Just to stoke your fires a little more....Jihad Cindy has been crowing to the local press and her adoring masses that the vote proves that what she stated two years ago about President Bush knowing ahead of time about 9-11 has been vindicated.
Hello - Earth to Jihad Cindy - haven't you been reading the news lately? Your little diatribe only makes you look ever moreso the fat, stupid cow that you are! And, your sheeple are just as fact-challenged as you!
I had to leave the room last night as our local FOX channel interviewed her. It was either that or shoot a hole through the only TV that we own.
Thank you.
What do you take me for, a slut?(!) Hmmph!
Just thinking about some of the incompetent representation that we have in NYC, and on Long Island, makes me want to retch.
dude - that particular gambit was used.
seriesly.
She got 48,000 votes this time vs.49,000 in 2002.Turnout was down abot 12,000.Republican crossover was maybe 8,000 of that. She has a solid base but Majette got 20,000 more votes in Senate Race in Dekalb than she did in Congressional race.
