Thanks for part II. Been following this since it was first posted on FR.

Michelle Malkin was on our local talk radio this am talking about it.

Pretty scary stuff. People better wake up. I'm due to fly United from Philly to San Fran in Sept. I won't be afraid of confronting suspicious behavior. Call me a racist, call be a -itch, call me whatever, but DON'T call me DEAD.

"Not again. This isn't a news story. It reads like a dime novel."

IMHO, only time and further investigation will prove this story to be one or the other. There are numerous questions raised by the story, and I hope further research is forthcoming in the immediate future. In this day and age, it behooves us all to take it seriously until proven otherwise.

Based on the posts of some in this and other threads (i.e., BurbankKarl the other day, who spoke to someone at the airport), I wonder if the government has been hushing the story up, and if so, why.

political correctness has been forced upon us by the legal community seeking to punish those with "wrong" thoughts. Now, half of this country wants to put an attorney who supports this type of litigation in the WHITE HOUSE!!!!

It's bad enough to have Bush supporting political correctness of Mineta's policy. It's even worse to know, if someone were to attempt to do something about it, they would be sued for racial profiling!

If it is true, this has to be the dumbest flight crew on earth.

What could the flight crew have done?

Air Marshals were on board....seems every passenger was on to these guys....and I suppose if they had made a run to the cockpit you would have seen 200 Todd Beamers go into action.

Nothing from Drudge. Nothing from Fox News. This kind of story is their meat and
potation and they're silent.

Administration asked media to keep this quiet because of national security reasons
and NBC and ABC held off until today.

The DEAFENING silence that has hit me is this:
if this was just a harmless (albeit understandably scary to passengers) prank
by a musical group...
there would have been BIG media press releases from the band, their agents, AND/OR
Islamic apologist groups like CAIR.

Maybe those groups have spoken...but I haven't heard a thing except one person
on the original thread saying the name of the band had appeared on a blog.

I believe stainless is referring to Ms. Jacobsen's second article when he describes it as void of details. This was an incredible let-down to me as well. Her first column was indeed a plethora of detail; however, the follow-up is lacking. I would liked to have seen a few corroborating witness accounts (any of the 200 passengers or flight attendants, anybody) or something more concrete to waylay some of the doubts expressed on the first thread.

Political Correctness - brought to by the ACLU and the American Bar Association.

The same two groups that strongly support their fellow comrade - John Edwards.

It seems some of that is happening. Clearly the story has been corroborated by the FBI! What other corroboration do you need?

I see a couple of posts referring to an effort to "bash Bush",

I just had a real "tin-foil" thought.
What if this was the actual musical group from Syria...but they HATE the current
regime of Syria.
Maybe they did something this seemingly bizarre to prod the USA to go depose
Syria's current tyrant regime.

I know that's far-fetched...but I never underestimate the human mind for going
far a-field.

It's easy to confirm the 14 Syranians and the author were on the flight. What else are the not telling us about these guys? intent, connections, procedures.

Some answers are in order; until then I remain vigilant.

I understand how NBC and ABC are going to try to spin this against President Bush, but why in the hell are we letting 14 Syrians run amuck on an airplane while Grandma Whitey has to be stripsearched before they allow her to board?

Because we dare not offend our enemy. As sickening as it is, all this became utterly predictable at the moment we changed the name of our war in order not to offend anyone. (The original name of our anti-terror operation was INFINITE JUSTICE, which offended Muslims who said only Allah can dispense justice.) That was quite a bellwether as to the state of mind of our leaders. This latest crap is just more proof of the insanity.

Agreed.
But at the same time, I wonder where are:
1. Verified fellow passengers calling in to smack down her story?
2. A phone call from the "musical group from Syria", their agent, or the
desert casino to harpoon this story
3. Wailing protests from Islamic apologist groups like CAIR...usually these
groups work like "rapid reaction" teams.

With each hour that passes without noise from any of those three sources
my belief that this story is credible increases.
At the same time, I'm still keeping an open mind...

According to the article an NBC producer said the FBI had confirmed:

Now how about the rest of the story? That's what we need to know.

I've tried to find any references to Syrian bands, syrian bands playing in Las Vegas, Middle Eastern music, las vegas bands playing in the last few weeks, etc. and have been able to find nothing.

If they were going to Vegas to play in a show, I can only assume their expenses, including a 1st class passenger (could have been FF miles or Gold/Platinum status) would have been paid for. However, they bought one way tickets and had return tickets on Jet Blue.

I cannot imagine how the FBI would have let these guys go unless they were confident of their itineraries. Then again, the Supreme Court recently ruled terrorists have the same legal rights as other criminals in the US.
