I would liked to have seen a few corroborating witness accounts (any of the 200 passengers
or flight attendants, anybody) or something more concrete to waylay some of the
doubts expressed on the first thread.

Agreed.
But at the same time, I wonder where are:
1. Verified fellow passengers calling in to smack down her story?
2. A phone call from the "musical group from Syria", their agent, or the
desert casino to harpoon this story
3. Wailing protests from Islamic apologist groups like CAIR...usually these
groups work like "rapid reaction" teams.

With each hour that passes without noise from any of those three sources
my belief that this story is credible increases.
At the same time, I'm still keeping an open mind...

I believed Ms. Jacobsen's account described in incredible detail in her first article. I was so concerned about what I read that I printed out the article and asked my husband and two teenagers to read it. They did. Without any preface, I asked them what they thought the 14 men were doing and what they would have done in the situation. All three considered the Syrians actions to be a dry run just as I did.

But, when I read so many comments indicating skepticism from posters whose opinions I respect, a few seeds of doubt were sown. I was just hoping for more details. Snopes.com, a site that debunks rumors, has this story rated as "undetermined" as they were waiting on the follow-up as well.
