Yeah they do... But, at the same time, to paraphrase Meatloaf: All wrapped up, and no place to go...

I read this earlier, and I was immediately transported back to my childhood, when a neighbor strung barbed wire across our bike path.

We did the plastic wrap over the toilet bowl trick in college. Just as messy, but not dangerous.

I have friends who did this between the front porch posts at my house when I was out of town on night. They poured pancake syrup over the wrap and put a flashlight behind it to attract bugs.
By the time I got there at 2:00am the light had burned out and I partially walked into the mess...sensed it at the last moment in the dark.
I reponded with 5 lbs of pinto beans on the main culprit's nicely manicured lawn.

Harley with open pipes, he regularly takes these 1 AM rides;
Maybe one of his neighbors is not so amused?

I'm no Sherlock Holmes but when push comes to shove this shouldn't be all that difficult to solve: you just need to work backwards.
-What are the specifics of this plastic wrap (I mean, we're not talking Saran-Wrap here)?
-Who makes it?
-What is the minimum that can be bought? The weight? The height of the role? Over the past year who bough a small amount of this? ("Small amount" Commerically speaking, of course)
- and so on.

I had no idea this would work! What a great idea! I may use this for the morons on Harleys who are thundering through the narrow dirt nature preserve paths near my house, making children and hikers jump into the bushes to avoid being hit.

So when does the Saran wrap company get sued?
Afterall, they currently do not have a warning label on the box- which demonstrates their disregard for the safety of vulnerable consumers! The box should say something like, "Construction of transparent road barricades can be dangerous or fatal."
I am being sarcastic of course, but millions have been made from equally stupid things...

Damn, wish I'd thought of that one when I was trying to keep the dirt bikers from cutting across my property. A couple of years ago I posted my adventures here as I tried to keep the dirt-for-brains from cutting across my land in the Sierra's (they were damaging trees, fences, and runoff channels, stealing stuff, and otherwise trespassing). Between the concrete "tiger trap" on the driveway, the strategically placed split rail fences, and a little backhoe work to further steepen the grade along the roadway, I've eliminated the problem, but at the cost of four kids injured, one extremely seriously (dumb teenager broke my fence down and then rode into the tiger trap at full speed without seeing it).
I'da paid good money to see one of the twits get de-biked by a little Saran Wrap...to bad I didn't think of it at the time :)

I'd say they need to be charged with attempted manslaughter.

Good Evening All-
BluegrassScholar, wow, this is quite a disturbing news article you've found. Needless to say, once they find the assh*les responsible, they should cool their heels in jail for a LONG time.
Even more disturbing are the FReepers who are thinking, "Gee, that motorcycle trap made from cellophane sounds like a great idea to get back at riders with loud pipes..." I don't detect any sarcasm or see [/rant] tags, so some of our online cohorts have r-e-a-l problems with which to contend.
Factories use this stuff to wrap furniture, pallets of food, and plenty of other shipping/industrial applications. Stretched tightly across a roadway, it would take down a motorcyclist as sure as God made apples. It's premeditated and should pack a wallop for punishment.

Er, I would be mighty angry if some fool and his old lady came roaring by on their motorcycle at 1 a.m. I probably wouldn't go to the extent of putting plastic wrap across the road, but still......

Some idiot kids are playing with other people's lives. I say they should be sent to Siberia to crack ice for about 10 years. Most kids these days have no sense of respect for anyone and they do not fear authority. This is the fault of parents.
I remember back in the day when a teacher can still kick your a$$. Dad had no problem with that if I deserved it.
Given the current social climate, if these kids are caught I am sure the parent will file a suite against the town, school and state for not giving the kids enough entertainment or community amusement.
