I have been in touch with "Aljernaan" for some time. I think she is trustworthy. I don't think she supports either side, and she appears genuine about finding an end to the war. She has both Muslim and non-Muslim friends, and gets an earful from both sides.

At your request, here is a VERY ROUGH Summary of the events chronicled on Threat Matrix 13:
1) We began the week with power outtages.
1a) Boston's Logan airport, which necessitated the cancellation/redirection of flights for a period of 5 hours. Still unexplained.
1b) Athens, Greece. 2 major outtages this week. Should make for an interesting Olympics.
1c) An explosion caused a power outtage at O'Hare. Some of the areas affected were ticket counters and several security screening points.
2) Several incidences occurred this week of planes that had to be diverted or returned to the airport due to smoke or fumes in the cabin or cockpit.
2a) On July 14, Southwest Airlines flight 933 from Raleigh, to Chicago made an emergency landing in South Bend when the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit. The pilot was overheard saying his eyes were burning and several members of his flight crew had similar discomfort, South Bend's WNDU-TV reported.
2b) On July 16, a Northwest Airlines DC-9 Flight 1735 flying from Detroit to Nashville turned around about 20 minutes into its flight Friday after smoke and fumes were detected in the cabin.
2c) The story of the airplane that landed in Baltimore with 10 people unconscious, 4 in critical changed; the next day, officials were reporting that a woman was sick with the flu and vomiting, and others around her became sick. Yeah right...
3) An article appeared in WomensWallStreet Online, written by Annie Jacobsen, chronicling her harrowing experience on board a flight from Detroit to LA. On board were 14 ME men (later found out to all be Syrians) whose actions were alarming at best. Their trips to the bathroom in succession, while carrying sacks, cellphones and other unidentified objects with them led to plane-wide alarm. Since this article was posted, Ms. Jacobsen has been contacted by many others who have told of similar incidents. She will be interviewed on national news Monday evening, July 19.
4) The above-mentioned incident has caused much speculation (especially here at TM) in regards to AQ's continuing desire to commandeer airplanes for their nefarious purposes, especially in light of earlier warnings by the Transportation Safety Administration that terrorists' new modus operandi involves the smuggling of components on board and then construction of a bomb in the lavatory mid-flight.
5) Intelligence indicates that AQ has issued threats specific to Wall Street (reminiscent of the prior images of OBL standing over the NY skyline holding a bloody sword over a bull with the head of Bush or Khaddafi). Whether this is in reference to the physical place itself or whether it would signify the crippling economic impact of another terror strike is unclear.
6) The warnings from US authorities of a terror attack being imminent are becoming ever more grave. The tone has become more a matter of "when" and not "if." Public warnings have been issued from Tom Ridge and Homeland Security, and from Sen. Daschle (D). Intel points to a high probability of attack sometime before our elections in Nov. Other likely targets are the 2 political conventions.
7) Senate Intelligence Committee members are urging the President to fill the vacant CIA director position post haste.
8) Several important meetings/trips have been cancelled.
8a) Sec. Ridge cancelled his trip to Israel to meet with Ariel Sharon.
8b) OPEC cancelled it's meeting.
9) One of the most startling developments this past week has been the request by the National Election Assistance Commission for Homeland Security and the Justice Dept. to consider whether there is any legal precedent for the delay of our national elections in Nov. in case of terrorist attack. If not, they want DHS to petition Congress to have a contingency plan in place.
10) Al Qaeda's truce with Europe expired this week, and many expect terrorist attacks to resume in the European theatre, especially in light of the fact that OBL, in a letter obtained by the UN, has threatened the EU.
11) Another specific threatening post was found by Italian authorities which leads many to believe that Italy (and specifically the Vatican) may be the next AQ target. The statement, from an AQ-related terrorist group, threatened attacks if Berlusconi is not removed from office.
12) The owner of Internet Haganah, a website dedicated to the fight against terrorism online, was specifically threatened with death if he did not shut down his website. He refused.
13) Another EOM posting appeared, specifically mentioning nuclear devices and their detonation "within 72 hours." Thankfully, the deadline passed without incident (as have the other EOM threats), and many here believe he/she/it is just posturing for psyops purposes.
14) Iraq's national security advisor said that it is likely that Zarqawi is trying to obtain WMD.
15) The movement of our military assets continues to cause concern. We have a greater percentage of our combat ships at sea than at any time since WWII. It is reported that we are also moving approx. 3600 troops from the SK/NK border to Iraq. Also, approx. 2000 troops from the 101st are re-deploying to the ME.
16) Israel is reportedly targeting Iran's nuclear reactor at Bushehr, saying that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapon capabilities with the help of Russia. Iran denies this (of course), and says the nuclear reactor is for energy purposes only.
17) The 9/11 Commission report draws strong conclusions about the level of cooperation between IRAN and AQ. Prior to Sept. 11, 2001 Iran gave a "free pass" to a good number of the hijackers. The British commission which has been investigating their Iraqi intel has drawn the same conclusion.
18) Iran issued a report saying that they have eradicated all AQ cells within their country. This has been interpreted as Iran's weak attempt to "cover their arses" after the 9/11 Commission report.
19) The hostage situation has not improved. One of the Bulgarian hostages was beheaded, and the fate of the other is unknown at this time. Two bodies were pulled from the Tigris River this week, but so far identities are undetermined. Meanwhile, the search for the body of Paul Johnson has been suspended, as video of his beheading is making the rounds on the internet.
20) In response to the demands of the terrorist kidnappers of the Filipino bus driver, the Philippine government caved in and agreed to withdraw their troops a month early. Although the small number of troops involved will have no real operational impact, the negative effect of yet another country having acquiesed to terrorist demands is sickening. Given that the Philippines is battling the presence of a large number of jihadis at home, the implications of their withdrawal could have dire consequences on their home soil.
21) Security in the US seems to have stepped up somewhat, even though there has been no change in our threat level nationwide. It has been noted that divers have been conducting harbor sweeps underwater to detect the presence of any detonation devices.
22) Refinery explosion in St. Paul, and a refinery fire at Sunoco in NJ.
23) Massive fires in CA (several) and one in the Everglades. The CA fires are rumored to number in the hundreds, with many resulting from arson.
24) Images of "fake" money appeared on jihad websites, with the face of Zarqawi and several interesting phrases such as "ATXN42000", the Lone Star, and the signature of Barbara Bush.
An astute FReeper (thecabal) traced the origin to a company in CA which produced the fake money shortly after the 2000 election with a picture of GWB on it. Jihadis just took those images and superimposed Zarqawi's likeness over it, without changing any of the fake text.
25) A rash of parcel bombs were discovered in England/Ireland/Scotland. Pipe bomb incidents occurred in the US as well, and are too numerous to mention, but they include:
25a) A man purchased an old suitcase at a flea market in CA and it contained detonation devices.
25b) Pipe bomb found outside a military base in MO.
25c) Explosive device defused outside City Hall in Philly.

27) Jihadis hijacked a website from the Arkansas Transportation Dept. and were using it to host their terrorist propaganda. It was reported and shut down.
28) E-bay continues to be a terrorists dream store. Offered for sale are surplus emergency vehicles, uniforms, and even on-line training courses for bomb squad work.
29) See post #589 for excellent links pointing to the likelihood of AQ having chem/bio/nuclear weapons.
30) Other countries seem to be stepping up their security as terrorists have been arrested in Turkey, Belgium and Thailand. The Netherlands stepped up their security in fear of a terrorist attack.

32) Russia has announced that they will be holding nuclear exercises in Aug. In addition, there is ongoing conflict in the Georgia Republic.
33) China is holding military exercises in a mock-up of a Taiwan take-over.
34) Demonstrators are expected at both the DNC and Republican conventions. Historically, these demonstrations have been extremely disruptive, and require massive added security. In light of current threats, this could be considered diversionary tactics.
35) The US and Malaysia will be holding joint military exercises aimed at protecting the all-important shipping channel Malaccan Straits.
36) Air Force One has been grounded TWICE in the last week due to technical problems.
36a) On July 4, AF1 was grounded due to mechanical problems.
36b) On July 12, AF1 was grounded in Oak Ridge, TN after one of the wing flaps was found to be off track. Another plane was flown in for GWB to return to Washington.
37) A FReeper has located a Red Cross announcement for hiring positions in 22 US cities. There has been some debate as to whether this is a normal posting, or whether it could be construed as "disaster relief" positions, and whether this would indicate some foreknowledge of target areas.
38a) Anthrax scare at a post office in Meraux, LA.
38b) Suspicious powder found at bank in Stratford, CT.
39) A large stash of terrorism handbooks was found in a dumpster in Williamsburg, VA.
40) Los Alamos Research Facility has been virtually shut down due to security inneptitude (missing disks) and accidents.
41) The debate rages on about whether or not AQ has acquired nuclear weapons, and if so, whether they are still operational. Also: whether they are prepositioned in the US or whether they have been/are being smuggled in through our "open" borders.
The possibility of terrorist operatives coming into the US from Mexico is virtually assured due to our current policy and our lack of adequate patrols. The estimates of the number of sleeper cells already present in the US is staggering - AQ, Hizbollah and Hamas.
42) AQ is also said to be recruiting Americans for their cause. An area ripe for recruitment is our nations' prisons, which are virtually overrun with those spouting Islamic extremism.
43) AQ has issued warnings on their jihadi websites for Muslims to stay away from "Christian" airlines, oil companies and other businesses run by "infidels", so as to avoid being targeted inadvertantly.
44) With Saudi Arabia's offer of amnesty to any terrorists who turn themselves in about to expire, several low level operatives have availed themselves of the opportunity. No big catches, just a few small fry.
45) Rough alignment of the present "Axis of Evil":
Iran - pursuing nuclear "energy" with the help of Russia; 9/11 Commission reports their complicity with the 19 hijackers
Syria - may be repository for Iraq's evacuated WMDs; in cahoots with NK regarding nuclear technology
North Korea - has admitted their pursuit of nuclear technology is weapon-based, not for energy. Obtained nuclear technology from Khan (Paki scientist who peddled secrets on the black market.)
China - threatening stance towards Taiwan; has renewed ties with Castro/Cuba
Russia - probable source of nuclear weapons for AQ; is "contemplating" sending 40,000 troops to the ME.
Cuba - Opportunistic anti-US communist regime virtually in our back yard. In cahoots with China, Russia, and a large number of communist-leaning countries in South America.
Special note must also be made of the South American "Terror Triangle" where the borders of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay meet. It is a hotbed for terrorist cells, who operate there with impunity.

I consider Saudi Arabia a fence-straddler who talks out of both sides of their mouth.
I am also reserving judgement on Libya until I see what "big announcement" (if any) is forthcoming regarding their knowledge of Iraq's pursuit of nuclear weapons. Although Khaddafi did turn over Libya's goodies and they are being housed down the road a ways at Oak Ridge, TN.
46) US Forces have captured a senior scientist from Hussein's regime who has probable info regarding their bio-weapons program.
47) FoxNews reporting that OBL may be deathly ill due to kidney ailment. Wish we could be so lucky, but al-Zarqawi is regarded by many to be the AQ figurehead now.
