From Thursday's White House press briefing:
JEFF GANNON, TALON NEWS: Last Friday, the Senate Intelligence Committee released a report that shows that Ambassador Joe Wilson lied when he said his wife didn't put him up for the mission to Niger. The British inquiry into their own prewar intelligence yesterday concluded that the President's 16 words were "well-founded." Doesn't Joe Wilson owe the President and America an apology for his deception and his own intelligence failure?
MR. McCLELLAN: Well, one, let me point out that I think those reports speak for themselves on that issue. And I think if you have questions about that, you can direct that to Mr. Wilson.
JEFF GANNON, TALON NEWS: Well, we spent so many weeks here dissecting the 16 words that are now absolutely true. Don't you think --
HELEN THOMAS: How do you know that?
JEFF GANNON, TALON NEWS: Excuse me, Helen. Don't you think that America deserves the opportunity to have this information brought forward, as well?
MR. McCLELLAN: Well, I noticed the media reports on this very issue over the weekend.
JEFF GANNON, TALON NEWS: There were very few of them.
MR. McCLELLAN: And I certainly recognize that it was getting a lot of attention previously. But I think the reports speak for themselves on it.
Bump!
N. No one wants to "lay hands" on her to force her out of the room.
N+1. Makes McClellan look smarter and more in charge every time she opens her mouth.
WHY OH WHY does the White House NOT POUNCE on this stuff????
With so much coming out now IN SUPPPORT of the sincerity and truth in which the President has carried out his duties to defend our country and attack IRAQ (The British report on their Iraq intelligence, the Senate Report on Joe Wilson), why does the White House spokesperson (AFTER HE'S GIVEN a GREAT OPENING), just dribbles out the these revelations just "speak for themselves"????
BUMP!
When was the last time that a press agent b-slapped another one (deservedly or not)?
Good for you, Gannon.
6. Because if she wasn't in the WH press room, she'd be pushing a shopping cart around DC and annoying the tourists.
Where is Joe Wilson? Has he disappeared into Africa with that woman accused of having an affair with Kerry? Bring us Joe Wilson! Bring it on!
Great job, Jeff. Huck Felen, the dishonest bag...
But, uh, the White House reaction was zero. Totally anemic, forced by a question. As the reporter brought up, this smarmy Wilson did months of damage with his lies and now the White House is doing nothing to right the wrongs.
If Joe Wilson were a republican the dems would have 55% of Americans HATING him as a villain right now, and blaming all republicans and every reporter who gave Wilson a platform.
7. She'd be cleaning the rest rooms at Dulles Airport.
It may be strategery. I would be shocked if the re-election staff didn't have a very specific timeline as to when they want this stuff to really come out. Until then, the enemy should be encouraged to over-play their hand.
Helen reminds me of the "Where's the beef?" lady. Just not as funny.
That's amazing, in a dismal Salvador Dali kind of way...
Christmas Vacation, starring the star political pundit Chevy Chase?
Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaccccckkkkkkkkkk!!!
For Who-pee Goldberg and Chevy Chase and other leftwing actors(?)
...except that Helen has never been a reporter, just a commentator. She can no more write a story without bias than you can sneeze with your eyes open. Same for 85% of the Washington Press Corp (and the 15% sit way in the back)
Real reporters are rare, and rarely successful these days. Used to be if management had something to say about a news item they'd air their views in an editoral. Now it's just written into the story with no attribution. What we see now are views-casts, not news-casts.
LOL!
I see a distinct resemblance to Ms. Thomas...
It's pretty much impossible to write without bias. The key is trying to at least keep it in check and not let it get in the way of the story. Ol' Helen never tried to learn, let alone master, this skill.
Can't they find another position for him and get someone else in there?
