I remember playing Castle Wolfenstein 3D, but I really cut my teeth on the original DOOM. I would play for hours. I would get kinda sick too, from the 3D immersion effect or something. I called it "getting Doomed". I am hardly into Gaming anymore, but I'll probably pick up a copy of Doom III, just for old times sake.

Once again, entertainment rules our roost. Why a video game is of any significance to our economy remains one of life's great mysteries.

I would get kinda sick too, from the 3D immersion effect or something. That's always been my problem with these first person shooters, though I'll probably get Doom III also. Diablo II is my favorite - it's "obsolete" by today's graphical standards, but the playability is such that I still play it all the time.

I like realistic (no monsters/zombies) games better. Call of Duty rocks. I might play the new Counterstrike when it comes out, though.

Check the system requirements. From what I hear Doom III requires a serious gaming system.

My gaming background is the same as yours, except I've taken to the Playstation 2.
I will pick up Doom 3, as you said, for old times sake.

I am not hugely into games, but I do play Quake 3 Arena online, where my lucious fembot "Pink" frags with the best of them.
My understanding of Doom 3 is that you better have a water-cooled 3.2Ghz P4 with a 800MHz FSB, and at least a 128MB video card ... otherwise it will be a slide show.

Yeah, me too.
I downloaded the shareware version of Wolf 3D off the old Prodigy boards in 1992. I quickly became addicted.
Then, I played hours and hours of Doom and Doom II. Doom II was cool because you could connect with a friend and play online, in a primitive, DOS 6.2 way (a real novelty in those days).
I don't do much gaming anymore, but I'll probably pick up Doom 3 because I liked the first two so much.

Never liked DOOM, Quake, etc. The only first person shooters I've ever played have been the Delta Force series from Novalogic (both single and multiplayer), Ghost Recon and the Medal of Honor series for the PC but only in single player.
Best online game though hands down was/is WWII Online but the developers have their heads stuck so far up their backsides they're going ahead with plans that will ruin the enjoyment of the game. Oh well, I was banned for life for being too vocal about it on the forums so if it tanks it won't hurt me.

I thought they fixed that problem with motion sickness by making the screen move around?

I remember playing Castle Wolfenstein 3D, but I really cut my teeth on the original DOOM. I would play for hours. We would bring our PCs over to a friends house and play it networked. The room we played in didn't have any windows and we went through more than one all night sessions. I had to re-take a few college classes over it.

I know it's passe', but I love Tomb Raider. Ok, the latest game wasn't brilliant, but it was still fun (at least at $14.95). There's nothing I love better after a hard day's work than setting TRII to "all weapons and ammo" mode and blowing up bad guys with my grenade launcher.
Also, anyone play Evil Dead Fist Full of Boomstick? I love it because the action allegedly occurs in my hometown of Dearborn Michigan!
