Anti-Muslim remarks rock the boat (Norway)

Populist Norwegian politician Carl I Hagen has a long track record of provocation in Norway. His latest frontal attack on Muslims at a Christian gathering this week may set a new record for the degree of reaction he's getting.

Rival politicians are blasting remarks made by Progress Party boss Hagen that compared Muslims to Hitler, poked fun at Mohammed and raised fears that Muslims are trying to take over the world.

Local theologists say they're shocked, a university professor claimed Hagen went way too far this time, and at least one anti-discrimination organization is threatening to sue him.

Hagen's outbursts came during a speech he made at a Christian festival in Bergen on Tuesday.

"The Islamic fundamentalists, along the same lines as Hitler, made it clear a long time ago that their long-term plan is to 'Islamify' the world," Hagen claimed. "They're well underway, they've come far in Africa and are on their way into Europe, and then we have to fight it."

Hagen also talked about children being used as suicide bombers. "We Christians are very concerned about children, 'Let the children come to me,' said Jesus," Hagen declared. "I can't see Mohammed saying the same."

That remark spurred laughter and applause from his Christian audience, perhaps encouring Hagen to add: "If he (Mohammed) did say such a thing, it must have been: 'Let the small children come to me, so that I can exploit them in my effort to make the world Islamic."

Angry response While Hagen found himself preaching to the choir at the Christian festival of the organization Levende Ord, (Living Word), other politicians were furious.

Afshan Rafiq, a member of Parliament from the Conservatives, blasted Hagen for "stygmatizing an entire religion." He was backed by Erna Solberg, head of the Conservatives, who said Hagen's remarks further distance the two parties from each other even though they're both on the right of Norway's political spectrum.

Solberg said there now was even less probablity that her party and Hagen's could cooperate to form a non-socialist government in Norway. An official from the Christian Democrats also said Hagen "crossed the line when he didn't only attack fundamentalists, but also the prophet Mohammed."

'Shocked' Solberg's reaction likely comes as a relief to Jens Vidar Bjørkedal, Norway's only Muslim sheriff. He told newspaper VG he was shaken by Hagen's remarks. "I hope he never gets into the government," Bjørkedal told VG. "I'm shocked that a leading politician can say such things."

Some commentators said it likely will be up to Progress Party deputy Siv Jensen "to clean up" after Hagen's latest provocation. Hagen, they say, enjoys stirring up trouble, only to let party colleagues smooth ruffled feathers afterwards.

The world needs to hear the truth, whatever that truth may be.

Google: Muslims and Hitler

Hand in hand, both with the same objective in mind.

Yeah, right! As if 9/11 wasn't "stigmatizing" enough. This Norwegian "Progressive ", Carl Hagen, should be invited on the "TODAY' show and enlighten Katie Couric on some of the emerging European opinion regarding world conquest by Muslims.

I wish people would stop referring to this man as a prophet. Last time I checked he kept slaves, started wars and had sex with a 9 year old girl.

'Let the children come to me,' said Jesus," Hagen declared. "I can't see Mohammed saying the same."

I can.

(A) Mohammed rewrote the Christian Bible so I could see him stealing a few lines himself.

(B) Mohammed had multiple wives. His youngest was something like 6 when he married her and 8 when he took her virginity.

If he (Mohammed) did say such a thing, it must have been: 'Let the small children come to me, so that I can exploit them in my effort to make the world Islamic."

Or "Let the children come to me that I might have sex with them. I have my best revelations when having sex with children." Muslims love this guy and claim anything Mohammed did was good and not a sin because Allah decreed it.

Excuse me, I'm going to hurl now.

I fail to see why the man shouldn't make his views known - in particular since every other person in a position of influence performs the most amazing verbal acrobatics to avoid "telling it as it is". We have just rid ourselves of a Mullah from North London who spouted messages of hatred that would have resulted in any Briton being removed in handcuffs to face charges of racism or inciting violence. Even when he was no longer allowed to preach in his mosque, he resorted to holding his meetings in the street outside - in particular to "celebrate" the anniversaries of 9/11.
Amongst other points made by this cleric was the prediction that the flag of Islam would fly over Downing Street.
This week our (Communist)Lord Mayor of London offered a cringingly warm public welcome on behalf of the people of London (!) to the cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi, topping this performance despite expressions of public disquiet by later inviting him to return to speak in October.
Al-Qaradawi, who has a regular TV show on Al Jazeera in Qatar and under whose aegis the website IslamOnline operates condemns peace talks with Israel as "treason", blesses child suicide bombers, demands that homosexuals be burned alive or stoned and calls on Allah to "destroy the usurper Jews, the vile crusaders and infidels." (ALL non-Muslims are infidels, of course.)
The Arabic,"Islam", might mean "peace" - but a peace which, it seems, will come only when Islam rules the world.
So the allegation that Islam is set on world domination is not without foundation.
For some reason, anyone who contradicted al-Qaradawi in similar tone would be in deep trouble since we appear to have been emotionally blackmailed into remaining silent.
During a TV debate on his visit, a member of the Muslim Council here resorted to deriding the woman who had asked for the man to be refused entry. A government minister on the same show claimed she would not take steps to prevent the man speaking here, believing as she did in the fine British principle of "freedom of speech". The freedom to speak out on this controversial subject is depressingly one-sided. Any "infidel" speaking out is immediately branded a "bigot or "racist".
Our Mayor and fellow-travellers who would suppress us constantly make mention of "Xenophobia" and "Muslimania" when a word of criticism is uttered. On another BBC TV discussion a member of a nationalist party who expressed the view that somebody had to prevent Britain becoming an Islamic state under Sharia law was immediately attacked by a member of the Muslim Council of Britain who found the remark "offensive". Yet the Hizb ut-Tahrir is just one of a number of militant Muslim groups avowedly dedicated to converting Britain to Islam by 2020!
Perhaps I should express the offence I feel about THAT, or about the listing in the telephone book of "The Islamic Parliament".
Tolerance, acceptance, restraint - all are practised on one side of the discussion only.
Although I had followed the various fundamentalist-based acts of terror in numerous parts of the world I regarded myself as a liberal. (with a small "l") A person's religion was his own private affair. Since 9/ll I'm quite disturbed to realise how much I have changed. I am not happy to see billions of dollars and pounds spent on security, or to see Big Ben and the Palace of Westminster lurking behind protective barriers of cocrete blocks.

How is this anything other than a statement of fact. Al Qaeda is on record is that its goal is a worlddwide Islamic caliphate.

Why do we capitalize the likes of "muslim," mohammed," and "islam?"

Put them in lower case, where they belong!

The truth can hurt. Look at the treatment Cosby has gotten over negative yet provable comments he made towards 'some' in the black community. BTW, I am not in anyway comparing the Muslim-Euro community and the African-American community. Only the empty rebuttles .
peace....D
