Backup electrical systems failed to kick in

A mysterious power failure at Logan Airport that delayed dozens of flights for more than five hours has still not been explained – six days later.

Airport officials insist airline security was not compromised during the blackout Monday at Logan International's Terminal E, but backup electrical systems failed to kick in as they are programmed under such circumstances.

Feds ask state to check computer servers

LITTLE ROCK (AP) — The appearance in a state computer of files containing texts and images that apparently originated with the terrorist group al-Qaeda prompted the federal Homeland Security Department to wonder about the security of other state computers.

Gary Underwood, chief security officer for the state computer network, said that after a check this week of the state's computer system's servers, it seems the terrorist-related files were an isolated incident.

"I think we're fine," Underwood said Thursday. "We've had more than 30 responses and haven't found anyone who has suspicious files."

Underwood said his office sent an e-mail asking all the state agencies whether they've experienced problems.

'Atak' worm variant linked to al-Qaida sympathizer
Last modified: July 16, 2004, 10:55 AM PDT
By Munir Kotadia
Special to CNET News.com

A second variant of the Atak worm, which goes to sleep to avoid detection by
antivirus software, has been linked to an al-Qaida sympathizer who once
threatened to release a powerful worm if the United States attacked Iraq.

Romanian antivirus company Bitdefender claims the worm's author has signed
his nickname into an encrypted part of the worm's code.

Mihai Radu, communications manager at BitDefender, said the virus,
discovered Friday, is signed by Melhacker, which is the moniker of a
Malaysian-based coder called Vladimor Chamlkovic, who in 2002 threatened to
release an "uber-worm" if the United States attacked Iraq.

Mikko Hypponen, director of antivirus research at Finnish company F-Secure,
said it is possible that Melhacker wrote Atak.B but that doesn't mean it has
anything to do with al-Qaida.

"I think there's no proof anywhere that Melhacker is in any way associated
with al-Qaida. He might want to be, though," said Hypponen.

According to Radu, Atak.B is a mass-mailing worm that tries to turn off the
most popular antivirus and firewall applications and then open a back door
to give control of the system to the author. Like its predecessor, the worm
attempts to avoid being detected by antivirus researchers by going to sleep
when scanned.

Hypponen said Melhacker has released several viruses, including Nedal
("Laden," as in Osama bin Laden, backward) and Blebla. In a 2002 interview
with U.S.-based Computerworld Magazine, Melhacker said he had combined the
worst of the Nimda, Klez and SirCam viruses to create a superworm called
Scezda. At the time, he said the worm was written and ready to be released,
but so far it has not materialized.

Munir Kotadia of ZDNet UK reported from London.

This is why I am trying to find the picture of the fractured US---this email came to me on another location:

Thank you so much for your reply, Sadiegirl.

Unfortunately the TB2K vBulletin forum software truncates long URLs...so, even though I tried to guess the part of the URL that the "..." truncated, I failed to find the link.

Could I trouble you to resend the link, and put a space after each "/"? Then I could delete the spaces and copy and paste the link into my browser address field.

Like this...

http://www.timebomb2000.com / vb / private.php?do=newpm&pmid=41154

If you break up the URL with spaces every 15 characters or so, the forum software won't truncate the link.

Sorry to bother you again...but, as I said, we have clients in both DC and NYC like the stock exchange and defense contractors, so I have interest in the map you found.

I also have a heck of a time navigating the Freeper board...and I virtually live on the web and work with HTML all the time. They just have a rather obscure navigation system, I suppose.

Thanks you again. I so appreciate it.

From the article:

…U.S. Congresswoman Corrine Brown wants the United Nations to monitor this year's presidential election.

…group from Europe has confirmed it will come to the U.S., specifically Florida, as early as September to make sure that the elections, and elections offices, are run properly.

…state elections officers say there are no provisions for foreign citizens to have direct access to voting…

__________________________________________________________

Here’s what the constitution says:

Article. II.
Section. 1.
Clause 1: The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his Office during the Term of four Years, and, together with the Vice President, chosen for the same Term, be elected, as follows

Clause 2: Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

Clause 3: The Electors shall meet in their respective States, and vote by Ballot for two Persons, of whom one at least shall not be an Inhabitant of the same State with themselves. And they shall make a List of all the Persons voted for, and of the Number of Votes for each; which List they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the Seat of the Government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate. The President of the Senate shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted. The Person having the greatest Number of Votes shall be the President, if such Number be a Majority of the whole Number of Electors appointed; and if there be more than one who have such Majority, and have an equal Number of Votes, then the House of Representatives shall immediately chuse by Ballot one of them for President; and if no Person have a Majority, then from the five highest on the List the said House shall in like Manner chuse the President. But in chusing the President, the Votes shall be taken by States, the Representation from each State having one Vote; A quorum for this Purpose shall consist of a Member or Members from two thirds of the States, and a Majority of all the States shall be necessary to a Choice. In every Case, after the Choice of the President, the Person having the greatest Number of Votes of the Electors shall be the Vice President. But if there should remain two or more who have equal Votes, the Senate shall chuse from them by Ballot the Vice President. (See Note 8)

Note 8: This Clause has been superseded by amendment XII.

[Article XII.]
The Electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves; they shall name in their ballots the person voted for as President, and in distinct ballots the person voted for as Vice-President, and they shall make distinct lists of all persons voted for as President, and of all persons voted for as Vice-President, and of the number of votes for each, which lists they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the seat of the government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate;--The President of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the certificates and the votes shall then be counted;--The person having the greatest number of votes for President, shall be the President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed; and if no person have such majority, then from the persons having the highest numbers not exceeding three on the list of those voted for as President, the House of Representatives shall choose immediately, by ballot, the President. But in choosing the President, the votes shall be taken by states, the representation from each state having one vote; a quorum for this purpose shall consist of a member or members from two-thirds of the states, and a majority of all the states shall be necessary to a choice. And if the House of Representatives shall not choose a President whenever the right of choice shall devolve upon them, before the fourth day of March next following, then the Vice-President shall act as President, as in the case of the death or other constitutional disability of the President. (See Note 14)--The person having the greatest number of votes as Vice-President, shall be the Vice-President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed, and if no person have a majority, then from the two highest numbers on the list, the Senate shall choose the Vice-President; a quorum for the purpose shall consist of two-thirds of the whole number of Senators, and a majority of the whole number shall be necessary to a choice. But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.
Proposal and Ratification The twelfth amendment to the Constitution of the United States was proposed to the legislatures of the several States by the Eighth Congress, on the 9th of December, 1803, in lieu of the original third paragraph of the first section of the second article; and was declared in a proclamation of the Secretary of State, dated the 25th of September, 1804, to have been ratified by the legislatures of 13 of the 17 States. The dates of ratification were: North Carolina, December 21, 1803; Maryland, December 24, 1803; Kentucky, December 27, 1803; Ohio, December 30, 1803; Pennsylvania, January 5, 1804; Vermont, January 30, 1804; Virginia, February 3, 1804; New York, February 10, 1804; New Jersey, February 22, 1804; Rhode Island, March 12, 1804; South Carolina, May 15, 1804; Georgia, May 19, 1804; New Hampshire, June 15, 1804.
Ratification was completed on June 15, 1804.
The amendment was subsequently ratified by Tennessee, July 27, 1804.
The amendment was rejected by Delaware, January 18, 1804; Massachusetts, February 3, 1804; Connecticut, at its session begun May 10, 1804.

My thoughts:
Forum rules prohibit me from expressing what I’m really feeling.

This has me pretty riled up right now. Corrine Brown is a damned TRATIOR and needs to be removed from office. Seems Brown doesn’t know the US constitution.

You want to start another civil war, this is the quickest way to do it.

Note to the UN and the rest of the world: STAY OUT OF INTERNAL US POLITICAL BUSINESS.

I shouldn't be surprised, but how do we get these globalist stooges in office? She wants to give up our sovereignty to the UN? Kick her out of the US!

Or lock and load like you said... :)

TERROR IN THE SKIES III

By Michelle Malkin · July 16, 2004 03:05 PM
I have been speaking with Brendi Rawlin of Porter Novelli (PR rep for Womens Wall Street). According to Brendi, the Washington Post has been sitting on the true story of Annie Jacobsen's "Terror in the Skies" account since last Friday. Dave Adams, the air marshal's spokesman, not only confirmed the story, but has also apparently supplied witness statements and other corroborations of Jacobsen's account. NBC Nightly News, ABC, and Dateline NBC are now on the story as well.

More to come...

Instead of guarding against terrorists, how about guarding against UN monitors? Powder Blue is a nice easy color to see in your scope.

Maybe you should rethink your plan to guard the polls? LOL

I have not seen this specific image.

The latest image I saw was a current post on an Ansar board, .ws I think, with a 2002 image of UBL in what looks like a Russian cold weather hat. I posted that one and the discussion thread the other night in a set of On The Net links.

UBL in white has an animated UBL shooting a gun (over a year old graphic at least) on one of the Abu Dujanah (sp) (See Links of Interest for correct sp).

FYI
