Bush-bashing by stars draws flak (John Kerry just sat there, grinning like a mule eating briars)

NEW YORK - Hollywood stars at a Democratic Party fund-raiser ripped President Bush as a liar, "another cheap thug" and a killer in a night of Bush bashing that put John F. Kerry, the party's presumed presidential candidate, and John Edwards, his running mate, on the defensive and provoked widespread criticism.

Both senators were on stage late Thursday night in Radio City Music Hall as the stars uttered their remarks. Neither one rebuked them. Kerry, in fact, said that every performer "conveyed the heart and soul of America."

On Friday, Republicans called on the Kerry campaign to repudiate the remarks and to release a videotape of the concert so people can judge for themselves.

Kerry aides reacted by saying that the stars' attacks didn't represent the candidate's thinking. The concert raised $7.5 million for the campaign.

"If John Kerry is going to praise last night's star-studded hate-fest and characterize it as the "heart and soul' of America, he should share these values with voters everywhere," said Ken Mehlman, Bush campaign manager.

Even a song written for the event captured the vehemence of the night. In "Texas Bandido," John Mellencamp wrote, "He's just another cheap thug that sacrifices our young . . . You're going to get us killed with your little white lies."

In a statement Friday, Sen. Zell Miller, D-Ga., said he was saddened, but not surprised that Kerry, D-Mass., didn't challenge the commentary.

"Last night John Kerry held a fund-raiser in New York that featured performers in a time of war calling the president of the United States a killer, a cheap thug and a liar. John Kerry just sat there, grinning like a mule eating briars," Miller said.

The controversy erupted as the struggle to define the mainstream values at the center of the campaign intensified. Bush was in Pennsylvania on Friday to counter Kerry's claim last week that he represented the "conservative values" of the heartland. Kerry and Edwards, D-N.C., have argued that fighting for the middle class is a truer measure of moral values than what they call the divisive social issues used by Republicans.

But at the gala concert, attended by 6,000 people, many of the stars of political Hollywood weren't so diplomatic.

Actress Meryl Streep attacked Bush's frequent references to his religious faith.

"I wondered to myself through the shock and awe, I wondered which of the mega-ton bombs Jesus, our president's personal savior, would have personally dropped on the sleeping families in Baghdad," Streep said.

Actress Jessica Lange called the Bush regime a "self-serving regime of hypocrisy and belligerence."

Comedian Whoopi Goldberg caused nervous laughter, and uncomfortable looks from Kerry and Edwards, when she repeatedly referred to the new vice presidential candidate as "kid" - and made off-color sexual puns on the president's name.

Kerry campaign officials said they wouldn't release a videotape of the concert, but they also sought to distance themselves from the spicier remarks and tone of the event, while defending the First Amendment rights of the performers.

"The performers last night were speaking for themselves," said Mary Beth Cahill, Kerry's campaign manager. "He (Kerry) does not approve of some of the remarks, and he has made that clear."

Does anybody have a list of the "entertainers" present for this mess? Seems it is time to add some more names to my "list".

As long as they keep coughing up $$$, Kerry will kiss their backsides.

The one thing we know about Kerry is that he will abandon anyone or anything for cash.

Kerry campaign officials said they wouldn't release a videotape of the concert

Good, because what people will imagine from what they've been told would probably be worse than what they'd see in the video. In any event, it doesn't matter because people have already been turned off and disgusted with what they've been told so far.

"John Kerry just sat there, grinning like a mule eating briars," Miller said

You have to love Miller's Southern Colloquialisms...Too bad Johnny Edwards was too busy MAKING FILTHY SUMS OF MONEY to learn any.

Streep's snotty comment about "the president's personal Savior" was way over the top. Is she anti-Christ? Is this "mainstream values?" How many people does this insult?

"NOte the ending of Kerrys commercials where he now states, "I approve this message". Again, a man with no vision nor inventive genes inside of him. He steals other peoples innovations, no originality- BLAH."

Dude, Dubya has the same thing. It's a byproduct of the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law.

" Kerry said they were speaking for the values of all Americans."
John Kerry obviously has different values than most Americans.

Do Americans with values have child molesters entertain at their wedding ?
John Kerry did.

Do Americans with values pretend to smoke dope with admitted child molesters ?
John Kerry did.

Do Americans with values happpily suggest that someone accused of sexual assault, rape, drug and gun charges would make a great candidate for Vice President ?
John Kerry did.

Do American fathers with values allow men charged with rape and sexual assault of young girls- to be around their young daughters and to be their frequent house guests ?
John Kerry doesn't see anything wrong with that.

If the Edwards ever allow their young children to stay with John and Teresa Kerry, they better make sure Peter Yarrow and Hunter Thompson are not also staying in the room next door.
Read on for John Kerry's " Family Values ."

Kerry is good buddies with Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary or as Kerry calls him-" Pedro."
AP-

" In 1970, Yarrow pleaded guilty to taking “immoral and "improper liberties with ... a female child ... with the intent of arousing ... gratifying the lust, passions and sexual desires ...”

" At the time of the crime in Washington, D.C., Yarrow was 30 years old and the girl was a mere 14.
"If that’s not bad enough, her 17-year-old sister was in the room watching the hanky-panky, according to an Associated Press report on his guilty plea."

“According to the victim’s statement ... , Yarrow who was in Washington on a concert tour, admitted the girl and her 17-year-old sister to his hotel room,” the story says. “Yarrow was reportedly naked when he answered the door.”
The AP report continues:

“Later Yarrow reiterated the couple’s actions were by mutual consent while the older girl looked on.”

"The singer spent three months in jail for his offense, and also underwent psychiatric treatment, his attorney told the Associated Press."

"Luckily for the folk singer, he had a friend in a very high place. President Jimmy Carter pardoned Yarrow the day before leaving office, thereby protecting the singer from ever having to register as a sex offender."

From Kerry's own website, " The Lighter Side of John Kerry" :

" He's jaunty, feisty; at the DCCC dinner he'd joined his old friend and occasional guitar partner, Peter Yarrow, of Peter, Paul, and Mary fame, onstage for a singalong of "Puff (the Magic Dragon)."

"Sometimes Yarrow stays with Kerry in Washington, the senator whispers to me during an earlier song, and they noodle around together on the guitar a bit."

" John F. Kerry,The Official Biography, By The Boston Globe Reporters Who Know Him Best," page 293

"On May 26, 1995 .. Kerry exchanged gold rings with his bride...Peter Yarrow of the folk group Peter , Paul and Mary performed at the wedding."

Byron York, National Review,"John Kerry's Time Warp, " 02/07/04

" Before the Iowa caucuses,
Washington Post reporter Ceci Connelly
described the candidate hanging out on the bus with Peter Yarrow, his old friend from Peter, Paul, and Mary.

"Pedro, sing us a song," Kerry ordered one day."

" Yarrow picked up a guitar and began to play and sing — and later waxed nostalgic about the antiwar rallies he attended way back when with Kerry and Eugene McCarthy."

"Earlier, Connelly wrote, when Yarrow sang "Puff the Magic Dragon" at an event in a private home in Ames, Iowa,

"Kerry lifted his fingers to his mouth for a quick toke on an imaginary joint."

"You can almost see his thick mane of silver hair returning to the shaggy brown do of those days."

Now to Kerry's other buddy, Hunter S Thompson.

usatoday.com " Kerry: Bush Relies on Ideology in Pursuit of Science :" June 21,04

"While he was in Colorado, ... Kerry invited Aspen resident and writer Hunter S. Thompson to ride in his motorcade and brought three copies of Thompson's book about the 1972 presidential race, "Fear and Loathing: On the Campaign Trail."

"Just to put your minds all at ease, I have four words for you that I know will relieve you greatly,"

Kerry told the fund-raiser. "How does this sound — Vice President Hunter Thompson."

Hunter Thompson-" I was charged with everything from. . . I was once charged with rape, assault .
I bit a woman on the back. I was the Marv Albert of my time. I was a wild boy."

Breakfast With Hunter, a documentary, has Hunter Thompson telling Johnny Depp “I was in jail for rape when I was 15.”

"Good mescaline comes on slow. The first hour is all waiting, then about halfway through the second hour you start cursing the creep who burned you, because nothing is happening...and then ZANG! "

- Hunter S. Thompson,
"There is nothing more helpless and irresponsible than a man in the depths of an ether binge "

- Hunter S. Thompson
"I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone.... but they've always worked for me."

" Hunter: The Strange and Savage Life Of Hunter S Thompson :"

"Readers will learn about the ugly "nipple-tweaking episode" in which Dr. Thompson was arrested for the sexual assault of porn queen Gail Palmer-Slater-it will horrify innocent readers when they learn the truth of what actually happened that winter night."

In 1990,Aspen's D.A filed several felony charges for possession of cocaine, LSD, marijuana, blasting caps and dynamite.
And also a couple of charges for third-degree sexual assault and third-degree simple assault -allegedly grabbing said individual's left breast and punching her.

" New Fear and Loathing : Gonzo Writer on Trial," New York Times, May 22, 1990

"Mr. Thompson, 52 years old, is to appear in court Tuesday for a pretrial hearing on charges of misdemeanor sexual assault and felony charges of possession of illegal drugs and dynamite."

"The charges stem from a meeting between Mr. Thompson and Gail Palmer-Slater, a former producer of pornographic films, last February in the writer's home."

"According to a statement Ms. Palmer-Slater gave to the authorities, he became angered when she would not join him in his hot tub."

" He twisted her breast and flung a drink at her, she said. She also said he and some friends were snorting a substance she believed was cocaine. "

"Three days later, six investigators from the District Attorney's office went to Mr. Thompson's home with a search warrant for illegal drugs."

"After an 11-hour search, they said, they turned up about a tenth of a gram of cocaine, a few ounces of marijuana, 39 tablets of LSD, a small number of Valium-like sedatives and a few sticks of dynamite."

"Mr. Thompson was charged with misdemeanor sexual assault. The drug charges are felonies."

"Possession of dynamite without a permit is also a felony. If he is convicted, he could go to prison for decades."

Imagine the press frenzy if President Bush hung out with
admitted child molesters, admitted rapists and pantomimed smoking dope !!

What kind of father allows these kind of men to be around his children ?
What kind of man thinks it's a big joke to suggest Hunter Thompson for VP ?
I guess the same kind of man who guffaws when Whoopie Goldberg uses a wine bottle on stage as a sexual tool and spews filth at the Commander in Chief.

Kerry really challenged himself by being surrounded by the left-wing libs of his party. That's real brave of him. Did I mention he served in Vietnam?

Actors who had made these types of remarks about Roosevelt during WWII would have been hung.

They still might.

I don't know where to post this, but it's about Bush bashing so I'm posting here.

I'm on another forum for parents of kids with a speech disorder, apraxia.

Anyway, someone Bush bashed on one of the posts. The thing that really amazed me is that they bashed Bush, and I don't know what the point was. They didn't like No Child Left Behind. I replied that they should talk about the issues. If they don't agree with Bush on an issue, then state why and what can be done.

When it comes to special ed, I certainly don't toe the line. I don't even know which party supports things that I support. I have to look at each issue separately and make judgements based on the issues. The Bush bashing post just pissed me off, and I don't know if there is something that I don't agree with or not.

Oh well, I'm just venting about Bush bashing.

Bald men are very attractive to women, at least I find nothing unattractive about them. The only ones I object to are the ones who comb over their hair from the sides. Yul Brynner was a favorite actor. It's not the hair, or lack of it, it's simply the man and who he is. Kerry and Edwards have good heads of hair and they both disgust me.

These "anybody but Bush" people are BIGOTS.

This is bigotry: obstinate and unreasoning attachment to one's own opinion and beliefs, with intolerance of opinions opposed to them. A bigot is obstinately and irrationally, often intolerantly, devoted to his own church, party, belief, or opinion - a hypocrite, especially a superstitious one.

Call them what they are.
