Despicable acts,but completely dissimilar.One was a military attack on a military instillation;the other was a terrorist attack on civilians,with NO nation and no military...just thugs.

A Territory that had attempted to gain Statehood for 40+ years, still a protectorate considered important to the defense of the mainland and Country. The President seemed to grasp that, delcaring war the following day.
Pearl City was damaged and there were casualties. How many is not known as there were no separate counts made.(Prolly cause it didn't matter, we were not at war, couldn't be determined in some cases, and because military personel are considered civilians in that circumstance.) 2403 casualties(civilian and military) with half as many injured, and every bit as devastating to the Country, perhaps more so.
Both were terror attacks, both were severe miscalculations, both used Kamakazi pilots, both could have been much worse.
