Should Kerry and Teresa Heinz divest their assets like Bush did in 2000?

Teresa Heinz Kerry, through a network of investments in blue-chip corporations, venture capital funds and municipal bonds, controls a family fortune worth an estimated $1 billion, an analysis of public records shows.

The $1 billion figure is double the estimates of her wealth that are widely cited in news stories about her husband, Sen. John F. Kerry, the presumptive Democratic nominee for president.

The couple would rank as the wealthiest to occupy the White House, far surpassing such storied presidential fortunes as the Kennedys'. Their assets are so vast and far-reaching that they mirror the U.S. economy and will probably raise questions about conflicts of interest.

"She represents a new ballgame in terms of her wealth and in terms of the wealth she controls," said Kevin Phillips, a political commentator and author of the history "Wealth and Democracy."

Heinz Kerry's investments, worth an estimated $500 million in 1995, have grown over the past nine years to $1 billion or more, even accounting for large living expenses

Back in 2000 the media was abuzz about the grotesque wealth Bush had saved. With estimates as high as $15 million the name calling started to fly and questions were raise about how somebody with so much wealth could governor the country. Bush and the members of his administration divested their assets under pressure from the democrat’s allies in the media.

Now in 2004 another wealthy man (Kerry) is running only this time the media doesn’t seem to care. His wealth has recently been appraised at $1 billion dollars that’s $1000 million.

I wonder if the media will call for him and his wife to divest all their assets?

Nah. That sort of thing is only for Republicans.

It's not difficult to realize that Mrs Heinz-Kerry is wealthier than him.

Dang -- $1 billion? And he wants to be in the WH that has total influence on the economy? Give me a break. I should ask where are the media accounts but as we all know they are out to lunch when a DemocRAT's wealth is brought out.

When conservatives do it it is unethical, since they have no ethics how can one be unethical?

"I wonder if the media will call for him and his wife to divest all their assets?"

Of course not. According to the Democrat constitution, only Republicans are capable of being influenced by their holdings. Sort of the way only white people can be racist.

No wonder Kerry sounds so phony when he accuses Bush of giving tax breaks to the Wealthy. No wonder Teddy (the swimmer) Kennedy kisses Kerry's butt-he's just poor white trash by comparison.

Kerry can no more comprehend the world of the average person, than the average person can comprehend his pampered, pacified, egotistical, self centered existance.

A President should be a man/woman of the people-not royalty. Our Fore Father's fought a long and painful battle against the ilk of the Kerryroyalty. Only an idiot majority would undo what they secured and willed to us.

Kerry is a globe trotter-The USA is only one of his many stop overs. Home to the Heinzes is wherever Theresa builds another mansion. They are no more like us than we are like monkeys.

But Uncle Ted still lives in a "compound." No one really knows how much he really has.

Yes. John and Teresa Kerry-Heinz must divest. Before the election.

(Does anyone else get sick when they think of the sign "Western White House, Ketchup, Idaho"?)
