Have shocked people for years, as I 'know' who the Cherokee people are. When I meet them.
Some times they think that I am nuts, so they go and ask the family and find that like mine, they were passing as something else.
Back in the 1930's and 40's it was a cuss word to be called an Indian and of course, long before that.
Funny consequence. I can grow a big, bushy full beard in 3 weeks. My oldest son (24) has never even shaved. The 21 and 16 year olds hardly have any facial hair either. My father-in-law was a serious alcoholic. My wife's brothers have a similar problem. The genetic heritage is there with blessing and curses.
